Woodin donates to the “Akosua Fund” of outgoing French ambassador, Anne Sophie AVÉ

Departing French Ambassador, Anne Sophie AVÉ, received a courtesy visit from representatives of Woodin, the top retail fashion brand in Africa, on Wednesday, August 24, 2022.

Madame Anne Sophie AVÉ received gifts from the company’s delegation led by Woodin’s Brand Director Hélène Miasuekama, as a token of appreciation for her assistance during the filming of their web series “La Maison Chiq.” Madame Miasuekama thanked the Ambassador for supporting the online series and for working in the nation generally during her service.

“Thank you for all you have done for this country. I know you are very involved in everything creative. So it’s a good occasion to say goodbye and we hope we continue in other facets,” she said.

Michelle Attoh, a lead character in the soon-to-be-released series “La Maison Chiq,” expressed the team’s gratitude for Madame Anne Sophie AVÉ’s efforts to better the conditions of disadvantaged children in Ghana through her ‘Akosua Fund’.

“To make this donation exercise even more valuable – because you obviously have very strong links to Ghana and because you wanted to support the educational system in Ghana for your Foundation, Woodin has also contributed to your foundation, educational materials for your children to say thank you once again for supporting Woodin and education in Ghana,” Michelle stated during her presentation.

Additionally, Woodin gave fabrics and other gifts to the outgoing ambassador.

“Because you are a fashion-savvy individual, you’re a very social individual. You’re not just an ambassador; you represent style, fashion, and beauty. We want to adorn you with Woodin fabrics from Woodin. We wish you a safe return and when you do come back [to Ghana], please do wear Woodin,” Michelle Attoh added.

H.E. Anne Sophie Avé emphasized that she treasured every moment in Ghana, including her role in the online series, and was overjoyed by the response to her stay here. She also thanked Woodin for donating to her fund.

“Thank you so much for donating to the Akosua Fund. I really hope that with the fund we will be able to carry on making an impact in the communities that have enstooled me as queen mother. They have loads of children and youth who are the future of Africa.”

The outgoing diplomat commended the nation’s fashion and textiles industry, particularly Woodin, saying the vibrancy and color in the homegrown designs brought much-needed solace during a trying period for the world. She urged more Ghanaian fashion designers to work with French businesses and have their creations displayed at the multiple Paris fashion weeks.

“I was very proud to be able to wear many Ghanaian designers. You have amazing designers who are doing amazing things. It’s with huge pride that I’m taking these fabrics away with me because whenever I wear Ghanaian outfits, everyone goes, ‘wow’”. So, I want Ghanaian designers to stop shying away and go to France and see how these beautiful, colorful outfits can appeal to the French.”
