Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has cancelled her performance in South Africa over the recent attacks by South Africans on other Africans residing in their country.

In a tweet, the ‘malo’ crooner revealed that her decision was influenced by “the barbaric butchering of my people in SA.”

Tiwa was billed to perform at DSTV delicious Festival which is scheduled to start on September 21 in Johannesburg.

“I refuse to watch the barbaric butchering of my people in SA. This is SICK. For this reason I will NOT be performing at the upcoming DSTV delicious Festival in Johannesburg on the 21st of September. My prayers are with all the victims and families affected by this,” Tiwa wrote.

Also, Nigerian comedian Basket Mouth took to his Instagram page to announce that he will not be making an appearance at the Comic Choice Awards in South Africa this weekend due to the same reason.

Accra Aca inflict painful defeat on Opoku Ware

Accra Academy needed a herculean effort to overcome Opoku Ware School at the round of 16 of Senior Sharks 7.

The Academicians pushed themselves through the ceiling to deny one of the old guards of Senior Sharks.
Opoku Ware SHS (OWASS) are Season 2 winners of the ever trending high school quiz, and have consistently been among the elite units.
Accra Academy who were making a return to the Sharks Quiz after a three-year break have also been spotless so far in the competition.
The optimism levels displayed by the team in their three contests have been absolutely magnificent.
Accra Aca showcased high aptitude once again in this contest to take two rounds out of the four, even after OWASS had the best start to the contest.
This was the most difficult challenge faced by Accra Aca, and they were able to wiggle their way through to success by whiskers.
The squad doing the Academicians proud were Aaron/*Ampofo, Mustapha, Kugblenu, and Samuel.

Right Corner Round
The Owarians were represented by John Kusi (Junior Sharks 5 winner and MVP with Manna International), Osman/*David, Bismark and Samuel.
OWASS became the first school to have seventy (70) enviable points in the Social Literacy Round in Senior Sharks 7. Take a bow!
Accra Academy, alias ‘Bleoo’ having the score of OWASS at the back of their head were determined to match or better them.
They thus approached their questions meticulously and ended the round with thirty (30) points.

R Cubed Round
Both schools were mentally well postured for the feisty battle that was to take place in this round.
Indeed, the two schools were of similar strengths and weaknesses, and split the points in this round between them.
Accra Aca, however, were a little sharper than their opponents so they earned forty (40) points to thirty-five (35) by OWASS.

STEM Round
The ‘Akatakyie’, an alias of Opoku Ware, have a ten out of ten profile in STEM, but for some reason lacked the required sharpness in this round.
OWASS were clearly out of their depth in this round and could only produce one correct answer which was countered by three incorrect answers.
They thus ended the round with a negative score of five (-5).
Accra Academy were climbing higher and higher with correct buzzes to end the round with thirty-five (35) points.

One-on-one Round
The contest appeared destined for a photo finish as Samuel to the right of quizmaster faced Samuel to the left of quiz mistress from Accra Aca and OWASS respectively.
As English specialists, Samuel of Accra correctly unscrambled the word “deranged” to receive a deafening roar from the Accra Aca faithful in the hall.
Ampofo and Bismark showed up for Accra Academy and Opoku Ware respectively as Math wizards.
Nothing worthy came out of their two tries.
Mustapha and David represented Accra Aca and OWASS respectively as Science specialists.
Once again they tried all they could to conjure magic but to no avail.
Kugblenu and Osman made up the pair of experts in General Knowledge for Accra Aca and OWASS respectively.
Osman nearly broke the hearts of the Academicians when he delivered a clean answer to the first question.
Unfortunately neither he nor Kugblenu could identify the Swedish World Record holder in the Pole Vault, Armand Duplantis.
Scores at the end of the round gave ten (10) points to each school.
With final scores of this enervating contest, Opoku Ware SHS had one hundred and ten (110) points while the winner for the day, Accra Academy, earned one hundred and fifteen (115) points.
It could be argued that Accra Aca had a close shave with death in this contest, and it won’t be misplaced.
They will nevertheless enjoy this soul-uplifting win to the fullest, while hoping they still have the mojo to carry them to the end of Senior Sharks 7.
Congratulations to them and better luck to Opoku Ware School.
The Sharks Quiz is developed by the Academic Talent Development Program and produced by the Adesa Production Limited (APL).
Official media partner is TV3.
