Nigeria and the Police needs a reform- Angela Okorie speaks on ENDSARS protests

Popular Nigerian Actress, Angela Okorie has stated that the Nigerian government needs to do right by its people.
Her comments come following the #ENDSARS protests that happened in Nigeria two months ago.
In October this year, Nigerians took to the streets to protest against the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), a unit of the Nigeria Police Force, after a video emerged of officers allegedly killing a man.
The hashtag #EndSARS began trending worldwide as protests continued across the West African country.
Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari announced that SARS will be disbanded, but the violence escalated with a reported massacre at the Lekki toll gate.
Speaking on the events during her recent visit to Ghana with Ameyaw TV’s Zeinat Issahaku, the Nollywood screen goddess, turned musician who led several protests in her home state at the time, stated that the Nigerian youth had woken up from their slumber and are ready to hold their government accountable.
” The lies is too much. They’re expecting me not to talk but I’m definitely going to because I led the protests in my state too and it was peaceful. You can’t be killing innocent souls and the truth of the matter is this government needs to listen to the people now because these same people put them there. So there’s no way you are going to keep being adamant about the whole thing at the expense of poeople’s lives. They need to compensate the families of the people that were killed. They need to listen to the youth,” she stated.
Narrating her own experience with the police in Nigeria, Angela explained that indeed, the police task force needs a reform.
“The truth of the matter is, they need to reform the police, they need to reform Nigeria for our country to be back again. When the Lekki toll gate massacre happened, I cried for 2 hours straight and for three days I could not sleep,” she added.
Angela Okorie was in Ghana two weeks ago to promote her new album, “Burst Everywhere” streaming now on all platforms.

ABOUT TYLA
Tyla’s music pushes boundaries. Infused with her vibrant personality, her songs offer an innovative take on pop and R&B, shimmering with the euphoria of South African amapiano, and an otherworldly approach to production that makes every track feel like something totally new. The Johannesburg native introduced herself internationally with her debut “Getting Late” featuring Kooldrink, and “To Last,” her new singles via Epic Records, push her artistry forward and solidify her versatility as she bounds toward her goal. But despite her big dreams, Tyla is doing her best to remain carefree. She never anticipated that “Getting Late” would permeate beyond South Africa, much less reach the U.S., but realized something was happening when people all over the world were making TikToks to the song, eventually resulting in millions of streams. Tyla’s emotionally rich music began when she was just 12, penning songs in her diary, which led to writing and singing more seriously as a high schooler. Ever since, she’s been guided by her intuition, which has her primed to build out her fan base and maximize her reach. She’s focused on the year ahead, performing and crafting her debut studio album, with the same intention from when she began. Signed to Epic Records through a joint venture with Johannesburg/New York-based Fax Records, and co-managed by We Make Music and Africa Creative Agency, Tyla is poised to achieve international dominance with style, soul, and spirit.
