3 Of The Best Streaming Sites And App For Your Total Entertainment

Published

OTT apps

In this day and age, where the best thing you can do for your health and your family’s health is to stay at home, it can be frustrating to find ways to help keep you entertained. While the Internet can be a fun place to get lost in, it’s only a matter of time to feel bored with whatever you are reading up on or the rabbit hole you dove in. Thankfully, the Internet is also a treasure trove for lots of contents – whether its images,  music, videos, or movies.

We live in a society where streaming content is the norm for most people – millennials rarely ever watch TV, and if they do, it’s to stream content from the Internet. That’s why as the world becomes more connected than ever, it’s wise to get a subscription from content streaming apps so that you don’t get behind on what’s hot and trending. In this article, we’ve listed down three of the best streaming sites, and apps (both for smartphones and desktops) for your reference:

IMDB TV

IMDB is probably the most recognizable listing of all the movies and series as well as short movies in the world right now. For the uninitiated, IMDB stands for Internet Movie Database, and it has been around since the 1990s. Today, it’s the go-to site for when you want to know about a movie, the cast it has, and even general tidbits around the particular movie. It’s also a great resource when researching an actor and wants to see all his work. Watching an IMDB movie should keep you company for a few hours.

IMDB TV, on the other hand, is an ad-supported streaming service that’s developed by Amazon. If you have a subscription to Amazon TV, then the chances are high that you have seen and heard of IMDB TV. Right now, the service is only exclusive to US residents, but the width and breadth of the platform’s content are already impressive. There are also IMDB movies and series in the works, so you may want to get that subscription now rather than later.

Netflix

Arguably one of the most successful streaming sites available, Netflix proved itself worthy of being the next frontier in content streaming. It has an impressive list of shows, movies, and one-offs. The studio has been churning out content after content in this climate that we are in. Netflix’s original shows may be hit and miss, but the fact that some of the brightest stars worldwide are flocking the streaming platform is an accolade in itself.

One of the few things that Netflix does well is that it makes streaming content easy and effortless. It’s available online, but also has developed apps for both iOS and Android. If you are a Windows user, there is a dedicated app to stream right through your desktop or laptop without having the need to go through a browser. Neat, right? The subscription tiers are excellent marketing plans as well, so everyone can join in on the fun even when you are in a budget.

Just recently, Netflix came out with a mobile-only subscription plan that emphasizes the company’s efforts on people who mostly consume content in their smartphones. This was not only a brilliant move, but it also underlined the fact that Netflix really knows its audience. Its presence on social media is a great motivator for new and existing subscribers as well.

Hulu

Hulu might not be as big as its contemporaries, but it has a great selection of movies and original series that are mostly critically-acclaimed. The content from Hulu is becoming more and more diverse each year, with original shows being added each month, anime titles, and even indie films. There is also a dedicated smartphone app that the streaming site has developed, and it’s easier than ever to get a subscription.

Hulu has recently released a package of three streaming sites in one plan – Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+. The pricing is steep if you are coming from the regular Netflix plan, but the package should age well in the long run. Three different streaming platforms with new shows each month? That’s a steal if you’ve ever found one. The basic tier of subscription for Hulu alone is $6 per month.

Battle boredom with these streaming sites

With these apps, spending time around the house won’t be as boring or as uneventful as before. Finishing a series can take some time, and if that series has a couple of seasons, then you have a project at hand – finish the entire thing in a week or so! Plus, you can brush up your knowledge of movies, and finally, see that one or two movies you’ve wanted to see in so long! Thanks to the Internet, your quarantine time won’t be as boring!
