Sarkodie, Mr Eazi, Juls and more nominated for 2017 MOBO Awards

MOBO Awards 2017Nominations for the 2017 Music of Black Origin (MOBO) Awards are out, and making Ghana proud on the list are some homegrown talents as well as British Ghanaian talents. Sarkodie, who recently released his ‘Highest’ album, has been nominated in the Best African Act category alongside Davido, Eugy, Juls, Maleek Berry, Mr Eazi, Sarkodie, Tekno, Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal and Wizkid. Will Wizkid gets another nod in the Best international act category alongside the likes of Jay-Z, Cardi B, DJ Khaled and more. Stomzy has topped off a massive year by leading the nominations for the 2017 MOBO awards, receiving five nods including Best Male, Best Album, and Best Grime Act. The South London MC, who released debut album Gang Signs and Prayer in February, also received Best Song and Best Video nominations for ‘Big For Your Boots’. Davido To Headline Second Annual Tribeville Featuring Wande Coal, Young John & More

Tribeville returns to The Lawn at White Oak Music Hall in Houston, Texas on Friday, July 5 for its second annual edition. Headlined by Afrobeats king Davido, the music festival from acclaimed event promoter and production company Duke Concept is a celebration of Black music from around the world united under one tribe.

In addition to Davido’s headlining performance, Tribeville will host fellow Nigerian acts Wande Coal and Young John, Grenadian singer V’ghn, Trinidadian soca artist Preedy, Nigerian singer-songwriter Chike, Afrorap act Bils, Alté group The Compozers, and South African rapper Focalistic, along with DJ sets by Skyla Tylaa, Babygirl The DJ, DJ Mobu, DJ Obi & DJ Big N, and many more.

Tribeville launched its inaugural edition in April 2023 with a lineup featuring Adekunle Gold, Oxlade, Victony, Libianca, and more. Returning this year, Tribeville follows Duke Concept’s first-ever all-Ghanaian music festival Rolling Cocoa in Washington, D.C. and Davido’s monumental headline stop at New York City’s Madison Square Garden. Tribeville will continue Duke Concept’s mission to bring the vibrant flavors of Africa and the Caribbean to stages across the U.S. and beyond.

Burna Boy cancels Netherlands concert, promises tickets refund

Burna Boy Breaks Several Milestones on Apple Music

The highly anticipated concert by Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Burna Boy, slated for June 9th at the Johan Cruyff Arena Stadium in the Netherlands, has been called off.

Burna Boy personally relayed the disappointing news via his Instagram account, citing the event organizers’ failure to uphold their part of the agreement as the reason behind the cancellation.

Expressing his regret over the situation, Burna Boy assured fans that ticket holders would receive full refunds directly from their original point of purchase within the next 30 days.

In an Instagram post on Thursday, May, 2, 2024 the ‘On the low’ hitmaker emphasized the importance of fulfilling contractual obligations and thanked his fans for their support, signing off with a message of love and anticipation for future gatherings.

“We regret to inform you that due to a failure by the event organisers to meet their contracted obligations, Burna Boy’s concert at the stadium on June 9th 2024 has been cancelled.

“All ticket buyers will be refunded from the point of purchase within 30 days. Love you and see you soon,” he wrote.
