Ghana Open returns to Tema Country Golf Club

The 85th Ghana Open returns to the celebrated Tema Country Golf Club from September 21 – 22 with incredible fields to compete for the Champion Golfer of the Year. The Tema Country Golf Club has earned the reputation as one of the outstanding golf destinations in the country due to its lush fairways and breathtaking scenery.

Considered the crème-de la crème of all Opens in Ghana, this year’s Open is planned to feature both amateurs and professionals who will compete for honors in the various categories. The tournament undeniably offers a great amount of entertaining action and talented golfers are set to battle it out for glory on the green fields.

President of the Ghana Golf Association, Mr. Mike Aggrey, disclosed to TheGolfer Online; Ghana’s specialist golf website that the competition will comprise of the following categories; Men Group A ( hcp 0 – 12), Men Group B (hcp 13 – 18), Ladies Group A (hcp 0 – 19), Ladies Group B (hcp 20 – 27)  and the Pros.

The event, due to its heroic status on the golfing calendar in Ghana is expected to also attract golfers from neighboring countries and other parts of the world. It’s is also projected to line up fantastic gallery and stream of media coverage. According to Mike Aggrey, the competition aims at unifying golfers in Ghana, Africa and the world at large, as well as promoting the game of golf.

He also believes pro golfers in Ghana will take advantage of the amazing platform that the Open offers to be more active and demonstrate top class performance. Most prestigious competitions of this nature have a heavy purse for the winners in the pros division, and the Ghana Open may be no exception.

The committee will soon decide on the prize money for the ultimate winner. However, there will also be flurry of prizes and other giveaways for winners in the other categories who will compete in what is expected to be one of the most exciting but challenging Opens ever.
