Born Theophilus Tettey Taylor on 13th May, 1992 in Osu, a suburb of the Greater Accra region (capital city of Ghana-West Africa) began his music career at a very tender age of 13 years as a Hiplife “Kasahare” artiste until he “found the light” and diverged to doing full-time Urban Reggae/Dancehall music at age 14 till date. His admiration and quest to reach the heights of sensational superstars like Sean Paul, Sean Kingston and Sean Jean influenced his adoption of the name ‘Sean’ which he added to his surname ‘Taylor’ hence his showbiz name ‘Sean Taylor’.
Sean Taylor began his elementary school at Zealous Preparatory School. He came out as the best student of the 2007 year group and earned his BECE (Basic Education Certificate Examination) certificate at the same school. He then got admission into the undoubtedly best secondary school in Ghana and West Africa at large– Presbyterian Boys’ Secondary School- Legon (Legon PRESEC) where he studied as a Business student till he completed the school in 2011 with a WASSCE (West Africa Secondary School Certificate Examination) certificate. That same year, he gained admission into the University of Ghana to pursue a First Degree in Adult Education and Human Resource Studies. Currently, Sean Taylor is a proud alumnus of the University of Ghana having graduated with a Second Class Upper Degree in Adult Education and Human Resource Studies- which he gained in 2015 after completion of a four-year programme at the university.
In 2011, Sean’s hit single “Transition” produced by Magnom got massive airplay on most radio stations in Ghana and he even ended up as one of the finalists contesting to open the Movado concert organized by Fantasy Entertainment at the Ohene Gyan Sports Stadium in Accra- Ghana. Since then he has been doing full time Reggae/Dancehall music. That same year, Sean won the Best Male Music Artiste award in a post-High School Prom (Royal Entourage Prom) and a Best Male Vocalist award in another named Pregiss Amour.
He was also a nominee in the maiden edition of BASS Awards- Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall Awards- in 2013 under The Discovery of the Year category. Sean Taylor has mounted several platforms across the length and breadth of Ghana for musical performances and has become a household name within the Reggae/Dancehall fraternity as far as Ghana Reggae/Dancehall is concerned. Songs like Everybody Bard, Free up Jacob, Cleanest People, Not More Than Me, #RichFi2015, Muntaashi and Dem Nuh Bad have boosted his image in the Reggae/Dancehall scene in Ghana.
