You probably are familiar with the health benefits associated with Matcha Green Tea. Like traditional green tea, Matcha tea comes from the Camellia sinensis plant. Producers use different methods for growing and harvesting it when producing matcha. This gives matcha more significant health benefits as compared with traditional green tea.

Matcha green tea has a high level of antioxidants, which protect our cells from damage. It may improve your memory, attention, and reaction time. Matcha green tea has also been linked to cancer and heart disease prevention. Some claim it also helps with weight loss.

With these significant claims, it is little wonder that many outside the health food world are taking notice of this green powder. Perhaps you are interested in adding matcha green tea to your healthcare regiment, but you aren’t much of a tea drinker. What are other ways of ingesting this product without sitting down with a hot mug?

Before we discuss ways to add matcha in your diet, you need to know that matcha has less caffeine than coffee but more than black tea. Take this into consideration before serving this to your children or ingesting it late in the evening.

Add it to your spice cabinet

Sure, this may take some experimentation, but some report using matcha green tea powder as a spice while cooking. Try mixing it with chili powder or paprika and sprinkle it on eggs or omelets.

Spice company McCormick has made it easy for you. They now produce a Matcha Green Tea and Ginger spice mixture that they recommend sprinkling on baked cod or using with spinach pesto. Consider adding it to your favorite curry recipe or sprinkling it in your soup — some report adding it to guacamole to give it a healthy, flavorful boost.

Leave your matcha on the counter by your stove and add it to some of your favorite recipes. It may enhance the taste of your food while also adding nutritional benefits as well.

Add it to your smoothies and oatmeal

You are probably already adding chia seeds, hemp seeds, and walnuts into your smoothie. Why not add matcha tea as well?

Instead of adding the powder directly to the smoothie, some recommend that you add a small amount of hot water to the powder first. After you form a paste, add it to your smoothie. Other sprinkle the powder in without forming the dough.

When adding such a flavorful ingredient, you may want to start small, such as a couple of teaspoons. This depends on the type of matcha you purchase and of course, your personal preference.

Many matcha smoothie recipes have bananas in them, but some show the matcha paired with blueberries as well.

If you prefer to start your day with oatmeal, you may add matcha to your favorite recipe. You can try to sprinkle it on top, but others have noticed success by making a matcha paste, and then adding it to the water before cooking your oats.

Use matcha when you bake

Do your research before adding matcha to your baked goods. Some report only using ceremonial grade matcha for baking.

Bakers have added it to pie crusts, cookie dough, and cake batters. Keep in mind that the coloring of your foods will change to an exciting shade of green when you add matcha.

Use matcha for your frozen sweet treats

You can easily find matcha ice cream at your local health food store, but you may consider making your matcha frozen treat. Look for matcha sorbet, ice cream, or popsicle recipes. You’ll forget you are eating healthy when you sneak a dish of ice cream after the kids go to bed.

Use matcha on your skin

Have you considered adding matcha as a part of your beauty regiment? Others are doing it.

Some say that matcha clears acne, reduces blemishes, and protects against skin cancer. Some claim that it reduces the signs of aging as well.

You can purchase a matcha facemask, but you can also make one as well. Mix one teaspoon of matcha powder to one tablespoon of moisturizer. You may also try mixing the tea with coconut oil or Greek yogurt.

Leave the mask on for 10 to 15 minutes, and then wash it off with warm water. Screen Shot 2019 08 26 at 17.09.51

Are you excited to add matcha green tea powder to your daily health regiment? Try adding it to your diet or beauty routine using one of these methods.
