One of the popular Ghanaian twins, the Mitch brothers, was arrested for selling unapproved products at Porials Pitch, a well-attended event organized by Dulcie Boateng.

The event, hosted close to the Accra Mall on Saturday, April 20, 2024; was fraught with tension after Nana Mitch and other partners of Boateng were apprehended by a police team. The event hosted by Snapchat influencer, Dulcie Boateng took an unexpected turn after Ghanaian investigative journalist Akwasi Koranteng, and officials of the Pharmacy Council, Ghana (PCG) and the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), conducted a raid to scrutinize product safety and legality.

The arrest, which occurred around noon, sparked inquiries into overseeing products sold at such gatherings. Allegations surfaced that the Mitch brothers were vending “S:13 by MB,” a lip gloss suspected to be imported from China, without FDA approval. Dulcie Boateng, renowned for her influence on Snapchat, organized the event, drawing a sizable crowd eager to explore various products and experiences.

A total of 13 individuals were apprehended during the event for peddling unapproved products. The arrested individuals have since been granted bail. As investigations into the sale of unapproved goods persist, stakeholders in the cosmetics industry are urged to prioritize compliance with regulatory standards to uphold consumer trust and safety.

The detention of one of the Mitch brothers sends a resounding message that authorities are vigilant in enforcing standards and safeguarding public health. In the future, it is imperative for all stakeholders, from influencers to vendors, to prioritize transparency and compliance to ensure the legitimacy of products and the welfare of consumers.
