Ghanaian celebrities who love pets

Pets are more than just animals!!! They are companions kept primarily for a person’s company or entertainment. Keeping a pet may sometimes be an act of compassion such as taking in and protecting a stray cat.

Popular pets are often considered to have attractive appearances, intelligence and relatable personalities. In Ghana the most commonly kept animals are dogs and therefore not surprising seeing dog kernels and Healthy Chews healthy dog treats on sale by the roadside.

A dog is a man’s best friend and I used to watch with amazement as a kid, whenever I saw families carrying their pets in the loaded vans of moving services on the streets of Accra. Yes, pets are indeed part of the family and so we move out of homes into new ones with them.

All over the world, celebrities love to share pictures of themselves with their furry friends.  The Internet is filled with such pictures from Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus, Ryan Reynolds, and Kim Kardashian.

Joselyn Dumas

Actress and TV personality has said she is afraid of dogs and wild animals but she has a soft spot for her cute Caucasian shepherd dog. The Caucasian Shepherd Dog is a large livestock guardian dog breed from the Caucasus Mountains, commonly bred in the mountainous regions of Transcaucasia. Singer Mzvee recently ended her hiatus from music with the single ‘Sheriff’ but the new sheriff in town has a soft spot for the furry ones.  She has a cute Labrador Retriever. The Labrador is a medium-large breed of retriever-gun dog. The Labrador is the most popular breed of dog in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States.

If you have ever visited footballer, Emmanuel Adebayor’s home in East Legon, Accra you would know he loves dogs too.  He has been seen in photos with his team of ‘white shepherds’.  The Berger Blanc Suisse is a breed of dog from Switzerland. These dogs are alert and loyal pets with lots of energy to go around. They love a challenge and need the exercise in doing so. Regular exercise is essential to maintaining their energy as well, as otherwise they may take it out on your house or your front yard.

Instagram star and self-proclaimed twin of Cardi B, Rosemond Brown may enjoy all the attention she gets in the media but she has time for her cute toy dog. Toy dog traditionally refers to a very small dog or a grouping of small and very small breeds of dog. A toy dog may be of any of various dog types. Types of dogs referred to as toy dogs may include spaniels, pinschers and terriers that have been bred down in size.

Stephen Appiah to contest John Dumelo and Lydia Alhassan

Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah is set to enter the political fray by rubbing shoulders with notable personalities in the upcoming general elections.

The former Juventus midfielder is believed to be lacing his boots to face the likes of John Dumelo and the incumbent member of Parliament for the Ayawaso West Wuogon Constituency Lydia Alhassan.

While Dumelo and Alhassan represents the NDC and NPP respectively, Appiah is expected feature in the elections as an independent candidate.

This was revealed by the Spokesperson of the Ayew family Fiifi Tackie via X on Friday afternoon.

“Stephen Appiah to contest Ayawaso West Wuogon constituency as an independent Parliamentary candidate,” he wrote.

If Stephen Appiah affirms the reported news, he will be following in the footsteps of other renowned figures in Ghana football who have indulged in politics recently.

Earlier this year, all-time top scorer of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan was appointed as the sub-committee chair of Youth and Sports in the campaign committee of Dr Bawumia, the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party.

In acceptance of the appointment, Gyan emphasised the need to share hos ideas garnered through experience in the game.

Another figure in Ghana football who recently announced his intention to engage in partisan politics is Kwesi Nyantakyi, former Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The former football administrator showed up as one of the candidates to contest in the NPP primaries for the Ejisu constituency following the demise of incumbent John Kumah.

However, it didn’t pan out well for the former Wa All Stars owner as he lost disappointingly.

He garnered a paltry 35 votes after close to 1,081 delegates had cast their votes in the parliamentary primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held in the Ejisu Constituency on April 13.
