AB Crentsil’s one-week observation scheduled for August 22, MUSIGA pledges support
The family of the late Highlife legend AB Crentsil, has scheduled the late singer’s one-week observation for Monday, August 22, 2022.
The ceremony will take place at the Bethel Methodist Society in Community 8 in Tema.
The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) has pledged support for A.B Crentsil’s family during a visit to the family of the late musician.
The delegation was led by the Acting President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons.
MUSIGA’s Acting National Treasurer, Samuel Kofi Agyemang, and leading members of the Ageing Musicians Welfare Fund (AMWEF), Pat Thomas, Naa Amanda of Wulomei fame, Asabea Cropper who played with AB Crentsil in the Tema based Sweet Talks Band and Director of Communications and Special Projects, Ahuma Bosco Ocansey were part of the delegation.
The union declared its intention to support the family to give the veteran musician a befitting burial.
“As we all know, we have lost one of our legends who was also a former Vice President of MUSIGA and a founding member of AMWEF.
“He was also very supportive of the work of the union and played a great role in establishing the fund to support aging and needy musicians. We will miss him greatly,’’ Bessa Simons said.
AB Crentsil is best known for his witty lyricism and storytelling. He has released songs that turned out to be controversial yet loved by many.
Before joining the Sweet Talks Band with Smart Nkansah and later forming his own band, Ahenfo, the singer of the well-known and contentious songs “Moses and Atia” had a long career in a variety of bands.
The Ghanaian musician passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022, at the age of 79 years.
