Keep hope alive; Suicide is not an option – Funny Face
Ghanaian Comedian Funny Face, who has been off the scene for some time has revealed the reason for his absence.
In an interview on GTV Ghana’s Breakfast Show, Funny Face disclosed he has been battling depression for the past two years and was very close to committing suicide. But having survived, he is using the platform made available to him to speak to anyone battling through depression.
“My brother, my dear sister, I don’t know what you’re going through, I don’t know what is a burden. But if you look at me this day, see me again go back on YouTube, go back on internet, play everything. Just type ‘Funnyface Depression’. For 2 good years I was going through depression, wanting to even die,” he stated.
Funny Face also encouraged people battling depression to hang on and not cause harm to themselves.

“Hold on and calm down. Whatever you’re going through God will make you come through out of it. But just hold on. Never do anything funny to yourself,” he added.
The “Cow and Chicken” actor explained that depression is a mental illness that pushes people to want to commit suicide even though they may not be ready to die.
“You, yourself you’re not ready die. What is happening to you it’s your mentality that is playing tricks on you, that is saying kill yourself. Because if you commit suicide now, you’ll live to regret it especially if you have kids. Don’t do this. I don’t know God is telling me to tell somebody now, don’t do this, don’t do it. Keep your hopes alive. God got you and suicide is not an option,” he went on to say.
He further apologised for any offensive words he may have uttered against anyone or any actions he may have taken against anyone in his time of weakness; “I want to say sorry to anybody that I offended during my time of depression. Everybody, anybody I spoke against. Everybody, anybody I insulted. Please forgive me, I’m a human. Funny is back and I’m back for good”.
