‘Coming to Africa: Welcome to Ghana’ named an official selection at The Newark International Film Festival
Coming to Africa: Welcome to Ghana,” the follow up to the award-winning romantic comedy, “Coming to Africa,” is slated to make its second film festival appearance. The film has been named an official selection at The 8th annual Newark International Film Festival set to take place June 21-25, 2023 in Newark, New Jersey, USA.
The movie took home the award for Best Costume Design at The African Film Festival (TAFF) in Dallas on June 3rd. According to the film’s director, Anwar Jamison, the movie will be premiering in Ghana soon.

“Film festivals are a great opportunity to share our film with audiences and build up excitement, so I’m looking forward to each stop on our festival run,” explained Jamison, “But I have to admit that I’m especially looking forward to the official theatrical premiere in Ghana. We will be announcing that date really soon.”
Immediately following the screening, actor Nate Parker, best known for his starring role alongside Denzel Washington in The Great Debaters and his portrayal of Nat Turner in The Birth of a Nation, will lead a panel discussion on filmmaking and distribution.
The Newark International Film Festival is a five-day event that showcases the innovation and breadth of the film industry.
