Renowned Ghanaian media personality, Kwesi Kyei Darkwa, well recognized as KKD has launched a sharp critique of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, accusing him of arrogance and bringing shame to the Presidency.

KKD’s remarks were aimed at the President’s interactions with traditional leaders, which he perceives as disrespectful and disconnected from Ghanaian customs. The Legendary media personality specifically took issue with the President’s practice of instructing chiefs to stand and greet him at public events.

On multiple occasions, President Akufo-Addo has reportedly told seated chiefs to rise and acknowledge his presence upon his arrival. According to KKD, this behavior is not only inappropriate but also a sign of the President’s arrogance.

Speaking on 3FM, KKD highlighted that, in Ghanaian culture, chiefs are highly respected figures, regarded as custodians of tradition and community leaders who serve for life. In contrast, the presidency is a temporary role, subject to term limits.

Given this difference, KKD contended that it is deeply disrespectful for a sitting President to require chiefs, who hold lifelong positions of authority, to stand in his presence. He further claimed that no previous President in Ghana’s history has brought as much dishonor to the office as Akufo-Addo, accusing him of undermining the dignity of both the Presidency and the traditional chieftaincy institution.
