From left to right K Bee, Kofi Korea, Koo Ntakara and Cano ZOn Friday, all hell will break loose as four wannabe hitmakers – K Bee, Kofi Korea, Koo Ntakara, and Cano Z – descend onto the Accra International Conference Centre stage to prove to Ghana why each of them deserve to be crowned the 2013 MTN Hitmaker. With Nigeria’s own music reality show, MTN Project Fame West Africa, success story Iyanya set to perform alongside Guru and Ohemaa Mercy, the night will surely be one to remember. The four last standing gentlemen, who are assiduously preparing for the final battle, have promised nothing but fireworks to merit the GH¢100,000 album producing deal (first prize) and GH¢50,000 album producing deal (second prize) at stake. Kofi Korea who touched on how proud he is to be part of the finalists said: “I will do something extraordinary. Something no one has seen before in the history of musical reality shows so just watch out for me on Friday.” Not to be outdone by his competitors, gospel singer, K Bee, said he is expecting a wonderful show from himself and he believes that he is the best man among the lot. “I believe in myself to produce a wonderful show so all I can do is to wish myself good luck.” Ewe rapper, Cano Z, first thanked God for bringing him to the finale and promised to go in for nothing but the crown and the prize of GH¢100,000 album producing deal at stake. “I am going in for the crown and nothing can stop me.” The very shy but transformed Koo Ntakara noted that he is working hard to win the crown. “All I can say is that I am working hard. Everyone should troop into the conference centre and see for themselves the stuff I am made off.” Cynthia Lumor, Corporate Services Executive at MTN said this has been a very exciting period and the company wishes the contestants the very best. “Having reached the grand finale shows that you are already winners. “The hitmaker is about investing in your career and changing the lives of musicians. We use music to do everything in life and we appreciate the hard work over the past 13 weeks and we wish you the best.” Richard Acheampong, General Manager of Marketing Services said the competition has been very keen, and the passion from the fans has been tremendous. “People travelled in trotros, taxis and others walked from far and near to the Christ the King Parish Hall just to support their favourites.” Touching on the nitty-gritty of the prize packages, Mr. Acheampong said the objective of the show is to make sure the winners make a living from music and serve as inspiration to upcoming musicians. “We will call for producers and managers to bring up a plan to record, distribute and market an album. The two most favourable plan will then be selected. We would work with you so that the money would be put to good use.” On the night, the two winners will receive 20 percent of the prize money in cash. This means the ultimate winner will walk away with GH¢20,000 of the GH¢100,000 before the rest is used in production. “So when a producer is approved for the winner, 50 percent (GH¢40,000) of the remainder is released for production. “Once the musician and his producer are done with studio works and ready for marketing, the rest of the money (GH¢40,000) is released for marketing, distribution and promotion of the album and brand. We are doing this so you can take the music scene by storm and remain relevant in the years ahead.” Mr. Acheampong added that the winners also become MTN icons for a year where they perform at MTN sponsored events at commercial rates and their images will be used solely by MTN just like how Naterial and Miriam’s images are being used to promote this season’s event and other MTN related engagements. Earlier this week, MTN fans on social media were asked which evicted contestant would they want to see on the finale stage and they selected Trozo. This means that Trozo will be performing a couple of his favourite tunes including ‘Burkina’ at the final event.]]>
