Julius AmedumeAward-winning Ghanaian-British filmmaker, Julius Amedume continues to make waves with his artistic style of film making, this time with a short film titled ‘Mr Graham’.

‘Mr. Graham’ tackles controversial subject matter in a very subtle -yet very effective -way as a young man comes to terms with his inner demons. Mr Graham (Alexis Rodney) remembers the legacy left by his father.  As he travels home at night watching a train slither over the tracks and into the darkness, his father’s spirit blossoms and grows in him. The next day as he goes about his daily duties, he struggles with a secret obsession that threatens the life he had hoped to build.

“It is one of the darkest, most challenging and complex pieces of work I have done to date. I think Alexis Rodney’s performance is phenomenal and is the result of his 4 months of preparation for his character. I think his performance and the crew was simply amazing”, comments Julius Amedume, who wrote and directed the short film.

Amedume is no stranger to the film world having received film festival acclaim for a few of his short films including Best Short Film for Precipice at this year’s Pan African Film Festival and Best Feature Award at the 15th Pan African Film Festival for his 2006 film A Goat’s Tail. Precipice (starring Jimmy Jean-Louis) also received a nomination for the African Movie Academy Award (AMAA), and took home the Best Diaspora Short Film. It’s currently being made into a feature.

‘Mr Graham’ stars  Alexis Rodney, Danny Bedford, Fabrizo Santino, Caroline Lazarus, Nakeba Buchanan, Ani St-Aimie, Mehmet Abdi, Natalie Lesser and Jake Hughson
