STP85730Ghanaian actress, Selassie Ibrahim brought her long hiatus to an end by launching her Smarttys Management & Productions (SMP) Company with a triple threat over the week. The Golden Tulip Hotel, Accra dazzled in grandeur as guests from the world of politics, business, arts and entertainment gathered to witness the launch of SMP’s new TV chat show and print magazine, ‘Smart People’; and its debut movie production titled ‘CEO’.

The TV show is an exclusive, personality-profile interview program created to engage prominent people in all fields of endeavor to highlight journeys to success; what they have had to go through and how hard they have had to work to achieve their present status. It would be aired on GTV, TV3 and DStv, according to Selassie. The lifestyle magazine also celebrates achievers in society. It aims to motivate and entertain readers, as well as serve as a beacon of hope when the odds are down.

Amongst the impressive guests at the ceremony was Vice President John Mahama, the special guest of honour for the night. Others included S.K Boafo, Kofi Wayo, Dr Kofi Amoah, Kwaku Sintim-Misa, Grace Omaboe, Oboshie Sai-Coffie and Ramzy Nouah. Also present was Selassie’s arm of support, her husband. The cast of ‘CEO’ wasn’t left out either. They included Nadia Buari, Rosslyn Ngissah, Desmond Elliot, Beverly Afaglo and others.

Master of Ceremony for the night, Kwami Sefa-Kai through his good interpersonal skills and witty persistence managed to get some of the guests to by buy copies of the Smart People magazine. The Vice President and his wife paid 3,000ghc for two copies of the magazine, and Dr Kofi Amoah, CEO of Citizen Kofi got a copy for 2,000ghc. After showing a demo reel of the TV show, the guests were treated to a scrumptious cocktail before they finally got to see the movie, ‘CEO’.

The movie, written and produced by Selassie Ibrahim and directed by John Ezedomi and Afam Okereke, tells a story of Gloria, a CEO, played Selassie herself. She is an uncompromising, meticulous, principled, demanding and unfriendly woman, who is set to prove to everyone that she can go beyond public expectations of a woman. She succeeds in her business to the detriment of her family and when an interesting twist of fate happens, she hits the wall and is forced to relook her lifestyle.
