Arin and Princess have been evicted from the BBNaija Shine Ya Eye House during the second Sunday live eviction show of the season.

Last Monday, the housemates nominated Emmanuel, Nini, Tega, Saga, Arin and Princess for possible eviction. The Head of House (HoH), Pere, chose to save Saga and replace him with Saskay, placing her on the chopping block too. After an intense week of arguments, kitchen drama, a military-like regime, and extreme parties, the week finally concluded with two evictions.

Houesmates were thrown into another shock when it was announced that, KayVee, one of the four housemates to join the house after the first eviction had to take a bow out of the house due to mental health issues.

Big Brother, in another twist announced there is no nomination, no public votes and no nominations this week. However, this information is only known to Maria, the HOH and she is to keep the No eviction from her fellow housemates, not even her deputy. She has to convince the house that Biggie has given her the power to evict two house mates this Sunday. So, the housemates that least impresses Maria will be evicted. She will tell them she has created a score board for this. A Successful execution will gain her a reward. There are now 20 housemates vying for the grand prize. Premier League preview, 21-23 August 2021

SuperSport viewers on DStv can look forward to Round 2 action from the Premier League, with matches scheduled to run from Saturday 21 to Monday 23 August 2021.

DStv is the only true home of football in Africa, offering a range and depth of action that no other rival can match – it’s literally ‘Unbeatable Football’! If you’re going to spend your money on something, it may as well be on the best football in the world.

The pick of this weekend’s Premier League action comes from the Emirates Stadium in London on the evening of Sunday 22 August, as Arsenal and Chelsea renew their bitter rivalry. The Gunners will be looking for a statement win, but the Blues are clear favourites given their depth of quality and the stated ambition of winning the championship, as per manager Thomas Tuchel.

“Well we want to win; we want to compete and of course we want to be successful. This is in Chelsea’s nature and of course we are up for the challenge. We will try to compete for every title in every competition we enter but I also think it will be a huge step forward if we can maintain the same quality, attitude and effort that we showed last season,” said the German tactician.

Saturday 21 August sees the round open with Liverpool hosting Burnley. The Reds famously lost to the Clarets at Anfield when the teams met in January of this year and manager Jurgen Klopp will be eager to see his side pick up their first three home points of the season and return their ground to fortress status.

“Anfield is a special place for us, one where we always feel we will win, because of the great support of the people of Liverpool and supporters who come from all around the world,” said the Reds’ boss. “It is always special to play there, and we hope to make our fans happy every time.”

The weekend also features an intriguing clash between Leeds United and Everton – which pits master tacticians Marcelo Bielsa and Rafael Benitez against one another – as well as Wolverhampton Wanderers hosting Tottenham Hotspur, now led by former manager Nuno Espirito Santo, and Southampton hosting a Manchester United team which thrashed them 9-0 when they last met back in February.

The round wraps up on the evening of Monday 23 August with West Ham United hosting Leicester City at the London Stadium. The teams’ last meeting back in April produced a 3-2 thriller won by the Hammers – despite a brilliant brace from the Foxes’ Nigerian star Kelechi Iheanacho.

Folake Olowofoyeku talks cultural impact of ‘Bob Hearts Abisola’ as final season of the sitcom kicks off

Folake Olowofoyeku, the charismatic actress at the heart of the popular CBS sitcom, ”Bob Hearts Abishola,” has shed light on the cultural impacts of the show, emphasizing the significance of authentic representation of African culture.

The show, which premiered in September 2019, follows the unconventional love story between Bob, a middle-aged sock businessman, and Abishola, a Nigerian immigrant nurse. Olowofoyeku’s portrayal of Abishola, a Nigerian immigrant navigating life in the United States, has become a cultural touchstone, breaking stereotypes and providing a nuanced perspective on the African diaspora.

Through the lens of Abishola, Olowofoyeku highlighted the difficulties of bridging cultural gaps, showcasing the challenges and triumphs of immigrants in a foreign land. The character brings forth a strong sense of identity, proudly displaying her Nigerian heritage while adapting to the complexities of American life. The series explored their unique relationship, blending humor, romance, and cultural clashes.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Ameyaw TV, the multi-talented Olowofoyeku shared some personal highlights of the journey on the series, which is now its fifth and final season.

She said: ‘There’s been so much growth, this is the first time in my life I had a job longer than a month. Also, the impact that the show has had on the culture, I would say is one of the many highlights. It’s giving context to the Immigrant experience, not just in America but globally and not just for Nigerian immigrants, I think every kind of immigrant and it’s shown that regardless of what we look like and sound like, we all want love at the end of the day.

”And so this show was timely, considering the climate for the world globally I think it was something that uplifted folks and provided an escape. So I’m grateful for those being the highlights that this project is associated with and in terms of the impact culturally the awareness it created for African culture,” she added.

Olowofoyeku, who doubles as a musician averred that impact has been shocking as she never imagined that venturing into the series would make such an impeccable impact on the culture.

”The impact has been shocking because I didn’t realize venturing into this would mean so much to so many people. I was just the starving artist who had been in the game for a very long time, over 15 years before I got this job. One of the defense mechanisms was to just leave it on the table and forget about it. I did the same with this project and luckily it turned out to be the magnificent gift that has been so I’m filled with gratitude for it.”

Olowofoyeku also opened up about her NAACP Image Awards nomination in the Outstanding Actress in a Comedy Series category. The annual awards ceremony, which is presented by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, is held to honor outstanding performances in film, television, music, and literature.

”I felt like I was being recognized by my people and that meant a lot to me. The NAACP is responsible for the opportunity that I have in this country, and the work that they’ve done is the reason I can come to America and flourish the way I wasn’t able to do at home. I’m grateful for that acknowledgement it made me feel proud,’‘ she said.

On how her achievements have translated back home in Nigeria in terms of work opportunities and acceptance, Olowofoyeku remarked: ”It’s bittersweet because the reason I left Nigeria was because I wasn’t able to do what I’m doing here. I had to leave the home that I love. I would happily have remained in Nigeria but fate would have it that, where opportunities lay for me would be in this country. It is also like a full circle moment because going back home the acceptance that I wanted now exists so many years later doing the exact same thing I was told not to do.

” I also feel slighted in a way. I feel slighted for having to leave my home but I think the bigger plan and the greater good and something cosmically was in play, because the fact that my mother on the show has my mother’s name in real life and all the characters of Yoruba descent on the show are from where my father is from, makes it feel like there was there was greater work outside of my comfort to be done and I’m grateful for that,’‘ she added.

YKB tells Apple Music What Inspired a Deluxe Version of His EP, ‘YUSFUL MUSIC

With YUSFUL MUSIC, I feel like I was able to communicate a certain feeling of a young African creative in the times that we are, relating to how my parents treated my work… how I feel like I’m in a congested place where I feel like I need to make it out. Those are the things the EP communicated.

I personally feel like there’s more that I want people to feel from that, and also I just believe the EP didn’t reach as many people as I wanted because it was lacking some fun element.
What I’ve noticed with my people is that we gravitate towards fun records – records that say something about fun – or records that are deep and melancholy, so this is my attempt to add more fun to the project and have people pay attention like ‘ok you know what, let me listen to this whole thing this guy made’ and therefore get the feeling they’ve been missing out on.

YKB tells Apple Music How Pheelz helped bring ‘YUSFUL MUSIC (RELOADED)’ to Life

We played Yusful Music for him when it was done, and he was like he likes the writing on the songs… [so] then when I wanted to make Reloaded as the deluxe version, I told him I wanted him to executive produce it – let’s rearrange the tracks, let’s add some production too, and direct me on like how you feel I should make these new songs. He was actually a huge part of the process. You know how you have your head and you want to add extensions? So he was very instrumental in helping me make the extensions, and how we can attach it
