Beyonce gets 3 Emmy Awards, sparks Oscar and Grammy buzz already!

July is shaping up to be the month of Queen Bey!, With the premiere of The Lion King, and the anticipated new album around the movie, Beyonce has the world talking!

Beyoncé received three Emmy Awards nominations Tuesday for her work on Netflix’ Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé. The film received six in all.

Beyonce’s three Emmy nominations for Homecoming are for outstanding directing for a variety special (shared with Ed Burke), outstanding music direction (shared with Derek Dixie) and outstanding writing for a variety special.

The show’s three other nominations are for outstanding variety special (pre-recorded), outstanding production design for a variety special (Ric Lipson, Rachel Duncan and Andrew Makadsi) and outstanding costumes for variety, nonfiction or reality programming (Marni Senofonte, Oliver Rousteing and Timothy White).

Beyoncé had received three previous Emmy nominations, though she has yet to win. She was nominated for outstanding special class programs (2015) for On the Run, collaboration with her husband, Jay Z. She was nominated for two awards for Lemonade (2016): outstanding variety, music or comedy special and outstanding directing for a variety special.

 

The Emmy Awards is an American award that recognizes excellence in the television industry, and is the equivalent of an Academy Award, the Tony Award, and the Grammy Award

Beyonce may also be headed for an Oscar nom for “Spirit,” which she co-wrote for the live-action reboot of The Lion King, in which she stars. And she could be headed for multiple Grammy noms, including best urban contemporary album for Homecoming: The Live Album, best music film for Homecoming, and best song written for visual media for “Spirit.”
