Samuel Nerquaye-Tetteh, a Chief State Attorney, has been banned from practicing law in Ghana by the General Legal Council (GLC).

The decision comes after he was found guilty of professional misconduct for receiving GH¢400,000 from businessman Alfred Agbesi Woyome in 2011. The GLC’s Disciplinary Committee determined that this act violated professional conduct rules, adversely affecting the legal profession’s reputation.

In a notice dated January 31, 2024, the GLC stated that during Woyome’s 2011 lawsuit, Nerquaye-Tetteh facilitated the direct transfer of GH¢400,000 from Woyome to his wife’s bank account. The GLC emphasized that Nerquaye-Tetteh failed to provide a reasonable explanation for this transaction, leading to the withdrawal of his practicing license.

The notice, signed by Judicial Secretary Justice Cynthia Pamela Koranteng, prohibits Nerquaye-Tetteh from presenting himself as a lawyer or offering legal services to the public.
