Celebrated Ghanaian gospel singer, Sonnie Badu has fervently advocated for an end to the practice of comparing artistes as it breeds enmity and conflict rather than fostering unity and appreciation of each other.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwtx2xsJo7k

According to the ‘Baba’ singer, the constant comparison of Ghanaian artistes most especially to Nigerian musicians is a disservice to the essential diversity and beauty of individual artistic expression. He believes that it does not make sense to compare artistes, emphasizing that comparison just breeds enmity amongst crooners.

Speaking on United Showbiz last Saturday, December 2,2023, the crooner divulged that all artistes should be supported and helped to reach their peak, explaining  that people were great in their own seasons and times.

“Stop comparing artistes, it does not make sense. What you’re doing will just breed enmity between artistes. Everyone has their seasons and times. The Nigerians don’t do this, they rather promote and help each other,”  he said.

Sonnie Badu to a greater extent argued that it will be disrespectful to compare musicians who were great in their time to people doing well currently and believes that it will be imperative that they continue to learn under the feet of the old ones. His comments come on the back of the comparisons of the greatest gospel artists on X (twitter) last week.
