Ghanaian music entrepreneur and culture influencer, Smallgod, recently took to Twitter (X) to express his frustration with Ghanaian DJs for what he perceives as a lack of support for local music in the country.

Smallgod, who was out with renowned artists like Stonebwoy and Medikal, revealed that during a night out from 1 am to 5:30 am, only five Ghanaian songs were played at a nightclub in Accra.

In a direct call-out to Ghanaian DJs, Smallgod emphasized the need for improvement, stating, “Come on DJs, u guys have to do better.” He went further to address the impact on Ghanaian artists, stating, “Ghanaian Dj’s, we really need to talk cos u guys are making our jobs so hard as in Ghanaian artists job so so fc*king hard.”

As one of the pioneers and leaders in the creative industry, Smallgod positioned himself as a voice for the artists, asserting, “As the godfather, I must say Ghanaian Dj’s, we really need to talk.” He underlined the challenges faced by local artists, stressing the importance of DJs playing a pivotal role in supporting and promoting homegrown talent.

Smallgod, standing by his words, concluded with a firm statement, “Ghana djs, I said what I said and I don’t want to hear nobody talking behind my back. End of fc*king story.”
