“You guys are making our jobs so hard” – Smallgod calls out Ghanaian DJs for insufficient support of local music
Ghanaian music entrepreneur and culture influencer, Smallgod, recently took to Twitter (X) to express his frustration with Ghanaian DJs for what he perceives as a lack of support for local music in the country.
Smallgod, who was out with renowned artists like Stonebwoy and Medikal, revealed that during a night out from 1 am to 5:30 am, only five Ghanaian songs were played at a nightclub in Accra.
I was out with @stonebwoy @Amgmedikalmdk and more artist, can u believe from 1am till 5.30am we counted 5 Ghanaian songs played at the club. Come on DJs u guys have to do better…

In a direct call-out to Ghanaian DJs, Smallgod emphasized the need for improvement, stating, “Come on DJs, u guys have to do better.” He went further to address the impact on Ghanaian artists, stating, “Ghanaian Dj’s, we really need to talk cos u guys are making our jobs so hard as in Ghanaian artists job so so fc*king hard.”
As one of the pioneers and leaders in the creative industry, Smallgod positioned himself as a voice for the artists, asserting, “As the godfather, I must say Ghanaian Dj’s, we really need to talk.” He underlined the challenges faced by local artists, stressing the importance of DJs playing a pivotal role in supporting and promoting homegrown talent.
