Dumsor vigil: Regional Police Commander invites Yvonne Nelson, others

The Accra Regional Police Command has invited actress Yvonne Nelson, Selorm Dramani Dzramado, and Henry Osei Akoto to discuss their planned vigil protesting recent erratic power supply issues.

This invitation, detailed in a letter signed by Deputy Commissioner of Police Arhin Kwasi Annor, aims to outline the modalities of the demonstration. The meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 15, 2024, at 2:00 PM.

Yvonne Nelson had previously notified the Ghana Police Service of her intention to organize a protest against the government’s handling of the power supply situation. In a statement released on May 9, she announced plans to hold the vigil on May 25.

The letter, addressed to the Inspector General of Police, specified that the vigil would take place at Revolution Square from 8:30 AM to midnight.

Nelson has actively encouraged Ghanaians to join the protest. Through a tweet, she rallied support for a massive campaign addressing the ongoing power cuts.
