Ezra Collective Share Double A-Side ‘Dark Side Riddim / Samuel L.Riddim’

Ezra Collective have today announced a special double A-side single for Record Store Dayfeaturing two upbeat instrumental rollers; ‘Samuel L.Riddim’ and ‘Dark Side Riddim’. Having captivated audiences in Australia on their debut tour – where they performed at Golden Plains and Womadelaide – the new release is another example of the band’s high-tempo brilliance.

Of the release, band-member Femi Koleoso details; ‘Releasing music is always a special feeling. A documentation of where we are at. Like a photo of a snapshot. That feeling is made so much more special when there’s a vinyl that can accompany that snapshot. Records mean a lot to us. Record Store Day means a lot to us. This contribution means the world.’

Previously released as a standalone digital single under the title ‘Mace Windu Riddim’ comes summer-ready banger ‘Samuel L.Riddim’ while ‘Dark Side Riddim’ is a new, previously unreleased song. The 12” single of both tracks comes on colour splattered vinyl – red and black on one side, purple and black on the other – and is housed in a gatefold sleeve featuring a comic depicting a sci-fi-inspired reimagining of Ezra Collective’s origin story. Limited to 1,000 copies worldwide, Dark Side Riddim / Samuel L.Riddim will be available on 29th August as part of Record Store Day.

Ezra Collective are five young Londoners; bandleader Femi Koleoso (drums), his brother TJ Koleoso (bass), Joe Armon-Jones (keys), Ife Ogunjobi (trumpet), and James Mollison (saxophone). ‘Dark Side Riddim / Samuel L.Riddim’ is the band’s first release since their acclaimed debut album, You Can’t Steal My Joy, landed in April 2019. Featuring Jorja Smith, KOKOROKO and Loyle Carner, the exuberant album helped Ezra Collective break out beyond the thriving UK jazz scene and cement their status as one of the UK’s most exciting groups.

Since finishing 2019 with a triumphant, sold-out show at London’s Roundhouse – where they were joined on stage by special guest JME – Ezra Collective have hit America, Japan, Indonesia, Singapore and Australia/New Zealand on their ongoing quest to take their party-starting live show around the world.
