Fally Ipupa for Ghana Music Awards?

When I published the nominations for the 2012 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, someone asked me on twitter why the African Artist of the Year category was full of Nigerians and asked why Fally Ipupa wasn’t nominated. I then asked myself whether Fally Ipupa’s stardom across Africa had really reached Ghana yet to deserve a nomination. Well, I may soon get my answer as it looks almost certain that the DR Congo superstar would be performing at the awards ceremony slated for April 14.  Recent communications from organizers of the award suggested that this year’s ceremony will witness performances from 20 top artistes from Ghana,   South Africa, UK, Nigeria and Congo. At the moment the only Congolese artist that is famous enough to hit the stage is Fally so it’s easy to assume that Fally Ipupa fans may soon see him perform for the first time in Ghana. Meanwhile, Charter House has announced that the first batch of performers for the awards to include Sarkodie, Trigmatic and Irene Logan. Additional performers for the festival and award show will be announced at a later date.  ]]>
