The Family of Daniel Yeboah Atakora donates computer lab to Yonso community

The Children of the late Mr. Daniel Yeboah Atakora have commissioned an ICT laboratory with 25 computers, in the Yonso M/A JHS School. Being the first ICT centre in the community, the family hopes that the lab would help introduce practical use of computer to children in Yonso.

The donation was a dedication in memory of Mr. Daniel Yeboah Atakora, on the 25th anniversary of his demise. The dedication was attended by the Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Honourable Joe Osei Owusu ( a former student), the MCE of the district, the Chief of Yonso Nana Baffour Oduro Boahen lll, Bishop Oteng Dapaa, the education board of the district, teachers, students, headmaster, the family of the Late Mr. Daniel Yeboah Atakora, the community, and well-wishers.

During the ceremony, the Daniel Yeboah Atakora Memorial Fund, a scholarship to support brilliant students in Yonso was introduced at the event. Each year, the fund will disburse GhC 2,000 to a student from Yonso who gains admission to Juaben Senior Secondary School. This would be awarded based on students who apply for the stipend and qualify by writing a need-based essay.

Similarly, The Brainfaith Oforiwaa Amanfo Memorial Fund was also introduced during the ceremony. This is a scholarship award for only female students. Ghc1,500 will be disbursed to assist any girl from Yonso admitted to Juaben, Effiduase, or Adu Gyamfi Senior Secondary School.

Both scholarships will last for 10 years. They are open to students from Yonso M/A School and Yonso Islamic School. Interested students must apply and write a need-based essay.

Mr. Daniel Yeboah Atakora was a former Headmaster of Juabeng and Dompoase Secondary Schools. The family hopes that their gesture would inspire successful people who are from the community to give back.
