Star Wars has given the world a unique and brilliant setting with compelling characters and grand stories. So, it is no surprise that even decades after the initial appearance, the story still invokes plenty of emotions; and this applies not only to the movie-goers.

As Star Wars hit the coveted popularity mark, it was inevitable that the story would then find its way into the video games industry next. The Star Wars titles improved with time, keeping up with the ever-changing technology and so, this year we welcome the newest addition to that grand list: Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order. Origin launcher is probably already preparing for the influx of dedicated fans, but in the meantime, take a look at several other games that impacted both the Star Wars franchise and its fanbase alike! And remember – this article doesn’t carry the ranking’s system – we value every Star Wars title alike!

  1. Star Wars: TIE Fighter

Not the most glamorous release, but certainly a classic. Proudly claiming a spot on the list, TIE Fighter is the game were you – untraditionally – fight for the side of the Empire. Unlike Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, origin of this game is significantly different – player assumes control of a new TIE fighter pilot, to improve and take on more dangerous missions, all for the glory of the Empire! Your heroic deeds will be known only to you, and you do not inhabit the body of any known and beloved character.

But TIE Fighter is built upon the Dark Side’s lore and atmosphere, letting you feel what it was like to fight for Vader and the Emperor during the trying times. It was almost ground-breaking when it came out, right before its release, the hype was similar to how things are with the current Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order Origin release. And the fascination with the former holds up even today! The game was re-released in another edition in 2014, twenty years after the initial appearance and you should definitely check it out.

  1. Star Wars: Battlefront II

Speaking of Empire, we would be amiss not to mention Star Wars: Battlefront II. Despite the initial bumps and hurdles along the way, it can still be respected for its dedicated storyline. The redemption motif is important in the whole franchise, and such nostalgic repetition only works in the best of ways. The solo play is only part of the attraction, as the game is mainly oriented towards the multiplayer mode. Like Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Origin was used to present Battlefield II to the public, yet the newest release has quite a few differences. The main one being the lack of online play, as Fallen Order will focus on the story mode, moving far from massive online battles and all that ruckus. Anyway, if you want to blast it all-out, Star Wars: Battlefront II is yours for the taking.

  1. LEGO: Star Wars

Perhaps, you want to take a break from the super-serious plot and intensity-soaked gameplay? Maybe you want to catch up on the story before delving deeper into the new lore? Well, LEGO: Star Wars is here to fill that hole in your heart! While the uncomplicated and humorous version might seem far-off from Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, origin and the core ideas remain the same. It might sound strange when talking about such different games, but they both take place in the confines of the canon universe. LEGO: Star Wars retells a story of the original trilogy, while Fallen Order takes place before that timeline ever happened. These games, no matter how separate they might be in styles, might just as well complement one another in the best of ways. Don’t take our word for it, just have a stroll through the Lego galaxy far, far away…

  1. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic

Since we mentioned the canon and continuity, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order (Origin’s attempt to expand on the Star Wars lore) might still fall behind the iconic Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic. A true treat to both the fans of the saga and the dedicated enthusiasts alike, KotOR has forever carved out a place among the best of the best of Star Wars games. The player controls an original character, uncovers secrets and plots, all while navigating through the multiple twists of fate along the way. It is easy to get truly invested as you make choices, align with Light or Dark and see how it impacts the entirety of your gameplay. In both KotOR and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, origin and past play a great role in dictating who the player character is and how it impacts their decisions – a true mesh of lore and game mechanics!

  1. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed

Not the most brilliant, nor the most recent, but Star Wars: The Force Unleashed should most definitely be included. For one, both titles take place approximately within the same timeframe: Jedi are decimated, and the remaining forces are being hunted.  But where Cal Kestis is the padawan on the run in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, origin of Starkiller (the protagonist of Force Unleashed) is the complete opposite. Starkiller was taken from his Jedi father and mentored by Vader, while Cal was mentored by Jedi but that was taken from him by Vader. Two complete opposites, yet both plotlines revolve around revenge and connecting to what your past. Gameplay-wise they are similar too, catering to both solo play and story-driven experiences.

And thus, our list is concluded. There are quite a few wonderful choices, in varied genres and gameplays – spread across multiple video game marketplaces all over the internet, all meant to occupy your time until the long-awaited day of release of Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, Origin launcher based or meant for consoles. Cal Kestis’ adventures while evading empire and rebuilding the lost order will be available on November 15, and for the coming few months you can first explore and engage in other significant games set within the same brilliant galaxy-wide saga.

If Stephen Appiah affirms the reported news, he will be following in the footsteps of other renowned figures in Ghana football who have indulged in politics recently.

Earlier this year, all-time top scorer of the Black Stars Asamoah Gyan was appointed as the sub-committee chair of Youth and Sports in the campaign committee of Dr Bawumia, the flagbearer of the ruling New Patriotic Party.

In acceptance of the appointment, Gyan emphasised the need to share hos ideas garnered through experience in the game.

‘I have enough experience to contribute to sports – Asamoah Gyan reacts to political appointment
“I always ask myself, how do we create change if we don’t want to change? How do we spectate without being on the bench, and how do we score without being on the field?… All I know and will ever know, all I love and will ever love is SPORTS.” he stated.

Another figure in Ghana football who recently announced his intention to engage in partisan politics is Kwesi Nyantakyi, former Ghana Football Association (GFA).

The former football administrator showed up as one of the candidates to contest in the NPP primaries for the Ejisu constituency following the demise of incumbent John Kumah.

However, it didn’t pan out well for the former Wa All Stars owner as he lost disappointingly.

He garnered a paltry 35 votes after close to 1,081 delegates had cast their votes in the parliamentary primary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) held in the Ejisu Constituency on April 13.
