In a recent interview on 3FM’s ‘Urban Blend’, the award-winning musician said he is not happy with the government’s dependence on loans, urging Ghanaians to start putting in extra work to provide opportunities for themselves other than depending on this current government.

“The whole thing of going to take a loan to bring it and then everybody feels good for a short period of time because the economy is running and business is going and you keep owing…it’s not a sustainable model and I feel like every model of our governance is based upon taking loans and we need to start producing and we the people too need to start putting our trust that government will be the one ultimately.

“It will provide the environment, but we should also start creating our own resilience so that regardless of whatever that happens, we are able to guarantee our opportunities and create our opportunities,” he said.

According to Rocky Dawuni, there is almost no hope in the country, everyone is confused and frustrated by the current state of affairs, and he is encouraging the leaders to come out and speak out to calm down the big storm in the country.

“Right now I think the country is at a crossroads, the country feels almost radar less like a ship sailing in a big storm and we don’t have confidence, captains to ride at the helm to give us the direction as to where we are going.

“What we need is our leader to come and speak to the people as to the concerns that people have.

He continued; “Many people are going through problems and it doesn’t matter what political affiliation you are, people are struggling, people have lost their jobs, people can’t feed their families, people can’t make ends meet because most people lost their jobs during the lockdowns and all that and the informal sector which is the 70 percent of our economy was all eroded without us having a master plan as to how to rain ourselves and restart our economy.

“So we need leadership and answers for that and it’s not going to come by saying that oh Npp or Ndc is going solve that and what Ghanaians need to rise above is that political colours are not going to solve the problems,” he stated.

Rocky Dawuni suggested that the only way Ghana can be saved from the economic meltdown is by Ghanaians truly understanding  the hardship and making up their minds to work for the future.

“The problem of Ghana can be solved by all Ghanaians understanding that we have a problem and to solve that problem, it’s not going to take one person sitting around and waiting for some colourful political messiah to come say he is going to bring manna to you. It is going to take all of us working, the only way we can get Ghana out of where it is for everyone to start working and everybody to work for themselves and everybody to make themselves better, that is the only way we can set the grounds work for leadership to be able to earnest our readiness for us to move to the next direction,” he added.
