Ghanaian gospel music diva, Empress Gifty Adorye, has recently made a significant shift in her musical career by embracing the English Language.

Known for her powerful vocals and inspiring messages, the ‘Aseda’ hitmaker, has been predominately sung in her native Awutu language throughout her illustrious career. Her ‘Odi Yompo’ and the latest ‘Awieye Pa’ songs are predominantly in English unlike most of her earlier works. However, she has decided to explore the realm of English music, and she has some compelling reasons behind her decision.

Speaking in an interview with Kwame Dadzie on Joy FM’s Showbiz A-Z, the singer, made known that her decision to sing in English is driven by her desire to reach a wider audience and touch the lives of people beyond her immediate cultural sphere. By embracing the language, she believes she can break barriers and connect with a more diverse global audience, spreadin her uplifting messages of faith, hope and trust.

She explained by saying “I think my traveling and the kind of people that I meet, I have learnt a lot because sometimes when you go outside and you wanna minister, sometimes you need to explain your song,”
Gifty revealed that she had personally had that experience on two occasions so she decided to add some English lines when composing her songs.
