Ghanaian rapper, Sarkodie has over the years put a lot of effort and resources into his craft and his personal branding.

The “Landlord” as he is being referred to by his colleagues has shown time without number that it is important to have great taste.

It is therefore not surprising that for the video of his “Labadi” song featuring King Promise, he decided to go all the way to Greece to shoot a classy video for his fans.

According to the B.E.T. award-winning rapper, when he was sent the song, he instantly felt “beach and boat vibes” and where better to have that feel than in Mykonos, Greece.

“I wanted a certain vibe and I was not willing to compromise. The record was sent to me by a Nigerian producer. As soon as I heard it, I loved it. Normally I ask the producer what they were feeling when you wrote it, because I had already done the first verse which was talking about beach vibes, so I asked him and he was like I was just thinking about a boat ride and I was like that is exactly what I was thinking.

“So, we literally flew the whole production team, from London. None of the girls were from Mykonos, everyone had to fly in from somewhere. The villa we stayed in cost €6000 a night and we stay there for five days. We had to book a chef, and everyone had to get paid just for that shoot he added,” Sark disclosed in an interview on 3Music TV.

According to Sark, the music video, which was directed and co-directed by Capone and Babs Direction needed a budget of €30,000 (GH440K) to execute and he did that just.

“Labadi”  is a happy song about having fun with loved ones and was inspired by the idea of a boat party and being surrounded by family and friends.

The video was filmed on the sunny, tranquil shores of Mykonos, Greece.

In going the extra mile to invest in his craft, @sarkodie spent €30,000 to book the villa where he shot his LABADI music video. He also flew the entire team and crew for the video:
