Award-winning Ghanaian Afrobeats singer/songwriter, Gyakie, has disclosed she wanted to become an entrepreneur and not a singer growing up.

According to Gyakie, her dream of becoming an entreprenuer motivated her to study International Business at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where her music career began.
The “Rent free” hitmaker, while speaking during an interview with Berla Mundi on The Day Show narrated how her career began after she met her producer, Sosa, on the KNUST campus through a friend.
“So before I got into the university because that’s where everything started for me. Before I went to KNUST I just wanted to be an entrepreneur, I wanted to be getting money so I studied International Business in KNUST until I met my producer, Sosa on campus through a friend,” she said.
She further averred that shortly after their initial meeting, Sosa sent her a beat, which ended up becoming her first single on streaming platforms. She became aware of her songwriting ability as soon as she began to listen to the beat.
“Never Like This,” a song she wrote, was made available on music streaming platforms for the first time and since then she’s released hit songs such as “Something,” “Rent Free” among others.
