Meet Tytanium: The Young Ghanaian Colorist Making Waves Internationally

It all began when young Fifi Asiamah Kusi found a profession that would cater to his love and passion for colors. After discovering the color grading industry, the young creative set his mind to pursue a career in it despite being a student at the National Film and Television Institute.

In 2018, Fifi Asiamah Kusi, under the name Tytanium began a journey to fulfilling his dreams. He started off as a video editor, working his magic on the music video of Ghanaian rapper Kwesi Arthur’s hit song “Grind Day.” He finally got his major coloring project working on “Chuku” by Hiplife group VVIP. Four years after his color grading debut, Tytanium has enhanced colors on several music videos, short films and commercials.

The young video colorist and CEO of TY Media Color Production has a huge portfolio that includes music videos for big music stars such as Stonebwoy, Wizkid, Davido, and Rick Ross amongst others. He has also edited commercials for brands such as Smirnoff, Gino, Stanbic Bank and Uber just to mention a few. In addition to being one of the most sought-after video colorists by high profile artists, his works have been recognized by international media platforms such as The Colorist Society and Lightville Magazine.

Detailing his creative process to Ameyaw Debrah, Tytanium reveals he starts by having a pre-production chat with the director, looks at the treatment of the video and decides on the look and feels. After production, once he gets the assets from the editor, he begins color grading. Giving a deeper insight into his work, he describes himself as the last crew personnel to finish up the project.

Joseph Bicknell wishes to work with famous American film directors like Colin Tilley and Dave Meyers. He also dreams of working on

feature-length films in the near future.
