Michaela Coel makes history with first Vogue Cover shot in Ghana

British Actress, Michaela Coel brought Vogue Magazine to Ghana for her November, 2022 Cover issue.

This will be the very first time, a Vogue Cover shoot has been shot in the motherland.

The award-winning actress, who will appear in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the second in Marvel’s wildly popular Afrofuturist series come November, brought the Vogue team to Ghana, where she describes as her ancestral home.

In her November, 2022 issue interview which is beautifully written by Chioma Nnadi, Michaela describes her relationship with Ghana as one where she’s seen and feels connected.

“I’d been to Africa before—Kenya and Uganda—but when I came here I was really seeing people who looked like me,” Michaela tells Chioma.

For her cover, Michaela is spotted in a neon green sequin Gucci dress and Gucci earrings.

Photographed by Senegalese-Italian photographer Malik Bodian, Michaela’s shoot captures her true eclectic self and projects Ghana in its true essence.

What makes Michaela’s shoot special for the Ghanaian community is the fact that it was entirely produced by Ghanaian creatives.

The shoot was produced by Debonair Afrik Studio, makeup by Bernicia Boateng and Asare Boateng and assisted by many other Ghanaian creatives.
