Nigerian actor Baba Ijesha convicted for sexually assaulting foster daughter of comedienne Princess

Nollywood actor, Olanrewaju James, alias Baba Ijesha, has been convicted of sexually assaulting 14-year-old foster daughter of comedienne Princess, by an Ikeja Special Offences Court.

Baba Ijesha was on Thursday July 14, convicted of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault, and attempted sexual assault in a 2-hour judgement.

He was however discharged and acquitted of count one and count six, which were: sexual assault by penetration and attempted sexual assault by penetration.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo who held that the prosecution failed to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Baba Ijesha is guilty of all the charges against him, sentenced him to 16 years imprisonment.

Baba Ijesha was arraigned before the court by the Lagos State government on a six-count charge of indecent treatment of a child, defilement of a child, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration, and sexual assault.

He had pleaded not guilty to the charges. Since April 22, 2022, Baba Ijesha has been entangled in a messy rape trial for allegedly sexually assaulting the 14-year-old foster daughter of his comedienne, Damilola Adekoya, aka Princess. The case has lasted over 12 months since Baba Ijesha’s arrest on April 22, 2021, and arraignment on June 24, 2021.
