NPP didn’t pay me to embark on ‘dumsor must stop’ campaign – Yvonne Nelson reveals
Actress Yvonne Nelson has debunked claims that she was offered money to rally against the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in her ‘#Dumsormuststop’campaign prior to 2016 December elections.
According to the actress, she embarked on the social media campaign because she was concerned about health conditions in hospitals and businesses that were collapsing due to severe power outages that hit the country then.
Speaking in an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, she explained that her life was threatened several times and it took a brave heart for her to not boycott the demonstration that shook the nation.

“No one gave me any money for the ‘dumsor’ campaign. I was so hot in my room and I started tweeting. It got to a point I wasn’t even sleeping at home. People were threatening my life,” she said.
Reacting to rumours that she was paid, Yvonne Nelson said though the demonstration favoured the then opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the party didn’t care about her life and death threats.
“NPP didn’t care about my demonstration. They are politicians and have even forgotten. I posted all the death threats on my social media pages but where was the NPP then? I was not happy about the power crisis and it favoured the NPP, that was what happened,” she told Andy Dosty.
