NsuomNam: More than just a Seafood & Fish Restaurant

In less than a year after opening, NsuomNam Seafood & Fish Restaurant has become a special address in Accra’s dining experience.

I wanted to find out for myself, what makes NsuomNam such a standout in that space.

Right from the entrance, I started to understand the philosophy of the place from the story the details on the door tells; to the symbolisms of the art and crafts within the reception area.

NsuomNam is an African experience that tells stories of the people through food from the fisherman in Volta to the farmer in Tamale, captured in a welcoming ambiance of Ghanaian hospitality.

While I sipped my signature ‘tea time’ welcome cocktail, I soon observed NsuomNam’s commitment to sustainability as a closer look at the counter of the bar revealed hundreds of old coins beautifully laid beneath the glass cover.

I  was further impressed by the decor, not just for the aesthetics but the fact that the contemporary furnishing and décor were made in Ghana.  From handmade dining tables from Tekura to marble tables from home depot, and paintings from Theresa Ankomah, NsuomNam believes in keeping the money in Ghana and circulating it within the economy.

With an introductory experience at the bar indoor, I had to experience Lake Volta Bar, a vibrant outdoor cocktail bar that has already become a guest-favorite with innovative drinks inspired by wild African fruits delicious bites, and first-class entertainment including an impressive cigar bar.

Finally, it was time for a curated food experience with the celebrity chef and head chef of NsuomNam, Mick Élysée. His Eco-dining approach to African cuisine aims to drive awareness around food waste and sustainability.

From the impressive appetizers which came on a Tree of life presentation, I knew I was in for a treat.

NsuomNam prides itself in serving authentic African-inspired cuisine made with fresh fish and seafood sourced directly from local fishermen. The menu has interesting spins on traditional African meals presented in a world-class manner to meet the palate of even the most complicated food lover.
