Rapper, Okyeame Kwame is set to stage a much-awaited comeback with his latest album, after over two years since his award winning album. The album release will however be preceded with a video-shoot for the first single from the album titled ‘Faithful’. The single is already enjoying massive airplay in Kumasi even ahead of its official release in February.
The Kumasi-based artiste used the years after his 2009 album, ‘Woso’, to complete his tertiary education at the Kwame University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and also commit resources and attention to his social responsibility (i.e. Hepatitis B Foundation) which has since provided free medical care to about 2,500 beneficiaries nationwide.
But after the hiatus, the rapper is fired up to hit the music scene again with another sensational album, with the video-shoot of the Faithful slated for February 5 in Accra. Abraham Ohene-Djan, CEO of OM Studios, who directs the video, admits: “I can tell you this will be one of the finest music videos to be shot this year because Okyeame Kwame is a man who always seems to know what he is about, so working with him has always produced desired results.”
The concept of the video, he said, will be set in the 1960’s where the popular ‘Soul train’ fashion was predominant, adding “the appropriate costume will be used to create the buzz that his fans expect of his return.
The cast will comprise of four men and women all from school of performing arts, University of Ghana, Legon, engaged in a choreographed dance, orchestrated by Okyeame Kwame’s dance choreographer, Antonio, a graduate and teaching assistant of the same institution. The lead roles will be played by Okyeame Kwame and Bertha. As for the costume, the women will be in short dresses as was custom of the 60s, with either long hair with a band or short hair characterized of the 60s. The men, on the other hand will wear smart suits, with cravats, and have their hair texturized to suit the era. The costumes will be provided by Ophelia Crossland and Prince Collection for the women and men respectively.
An excited Okyeame Kwame comments: “I know my fans, which have waited for me for long, so I just want to surprise them with one of the best videos of our time. I thank them for their loyalty and support all these years and let me assure everybody that the new album is one massive hit to dream about”.
