Asa Baako returned to Busua Beach for the 8th edition of its annual Independence holiday weekender – bringing people together from all around Ghana and the world to have fun, party, relax and chill, on a beach break like no other.   This year brought four days of waking up to one of Ghana’s most beautiful beaches; listening to the best Ghanaian and international music; playing sports from football, volleyball and more; taking boat rides into the ocean; and partying well into the night.   Asa Baako – which recently won the Western Region’s Best Regional Tourism Programme by the Ghana Tourism Authority – is known for its unique mix of beach activities by day, with dance classes and showcases from Dancetera, the Afroshine beach stage, Musique Electronique and Agrobaako games with Decathlon; then jungle by night, with DJs playing Asa Baako parties at Scorpion Lodge and the famous Asa Baako jungle party, programmed by Akwaaba Music.   Asa Baako is a party with a purpose, supporting local musicians and culture in the region and made possible through the support of the local community and amazing volunteers. With open mic sessions at Coconut Dream, MusicXChange dance and drumming showcase, a children’s parade calling for an end to Child Labour and workshops plus celebrating Social Enterprise Month with the Asa Baako Changemaker programme, the festival provided something for everyone in the ultimate holiday retreat.   Here are some pictures from the weekend – if you missed this year, make sure to book early for 2019 and follow updates on Twitter @asabaako, on Instagram @asabaakofestival and Faceboko Asa Baako – One Dance. ]]>
