Sai wine1Sai Wine & Champagne Cafe is a great place for friends to meet, relax and unwind along the often busy streets of Labone, in Accra. Since I attended the opening sometime back in 2015, I had not been back until recently.

The opening was packed, so as much as I enjoyed the people, I had not seen the simplicity and coziness of the cafe yet. My recent visit was more intimate as I took part in a simple wine tasting event at Sai to familiarise myself more with cafe and their selection of popular wines, as well as new arrivals for the new year. Sai wine4

The wine tasting event was indulgent experience as we explored interesting Sauvignon blanc, Merlot and Rosé pairings with selected cheeses and meat. On a regular day Sai serves wines alongside complimentary food cheese and cold meat platters, oysters, clams, pate, salmon, lumpfish roe and others for the enjoyment of guests. Sai wine5

Sai wine & champagne cafe is wonderful addition to Accra’s interesting and evolving food and drinks culture. Sai sell’s nothing but wine and champagne from key wine producing countries through out the world.great place for friends to meet, relax and unwind, hold corporate meetings or simply just to drink some fine wine and champagne

Prime Mover Purchase: What Every Buyer Should Know

Published

on

MEMBREYS LEGEND 900 V TYPE DOUBLE GIRDER CRANE WEB scaled

Truck drivers know the challenges that come with employment in this industry. One of the most important decisions a person will make is which truck to purchase. This truck serves as the backbone of their company, so the right choice must be made. The following tips will help when the time comes to make this investment.

The Purpose

Any person interested in a prime mover must know what they will use the truck for. Some trucks will be used to move households and offices, while others are intended for use on construction sites. Knowing the purpose of the purchase will help narrow the choices regarding the cab configuration, the number of axles, and whether the axles are driven or steerers. In addition, the buyer must choose a brand to buy, as this plays a role in service options. Finally, the purpose determines the power needed to haul loads. A driver doesn’t want a vehicle with excessive power, as this vehicle will require more fuel.

Gross Vehicle Weight Rating

Buyers must also know the weight they will be carrying to ensure the selected prime mover can handle the load. The manufacturer or distributor determines the gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) or maximum operating weight. This figure includes the weight of all the truck’s parts and the driver. When the weight of the parts, the driver, and the load are calculated, the resulting figure cannot exceed the GVWR. If it does, the vehicle will not operate as expected, putting the driver, the truck, and the load at risk. Furthermore, exceeding the GVWR will lead to excessive wear and tear on the vehicle.

Research Brands and Models

Once the purpose has been determined, research different brands and models to determine which features are needed. Learn the specifications of each model and see what current and previous owners have to say about them. They have a unique perspective because they have been behind the wheel and driven the vehicle under various conditions. This information cannot be obtained by reading material from the manufacturer or a truck dealer.

Budget and Financing

When the list of possible trucks to purchase has been narrowed, it’s time to set a budget. Many people do so before researching different makes and models, only to learn that their ballpark figure was way off. How can a person know the cost of a truck without doing this research? When the budget has been set, it’s time to consider financing. Some people pay cash for the vehicle, but most buyers choose to finance the prime mover. Tax and cashflow advantages should be considered when deciding whether to pay cash or finance the truck.

Where to Buy?

Buyers may purchase a prime mover through a private seller, a dealership, or an auction. Private sellers are often more willing to negotiate, as they don’t have overhead. However, there is limited recourse if the truck has a problem immediately following the sale. A private seller also can’t help with financing or servicing the prime mover. Only those with mechanical knowledge should buy a prime mover from an auction because these vehicles come as-is.

A prime mover is a significant financial investment. Buyers should never rush into the process or buy a mover on a whim. Taking time to carry out these steps increases the odds of a successful purchase.

Additionally, Canadian Dena Davida introduces TURBA, a new journal that negotiates histories of the study and practice of live arts curation, and Thobile Maphanga chairs a fascinating panel with Albert Ibokwe Khoza (South Africa), Djam Neguin (Cape Verde) and Lorin Sookool (South Africa) titled where they will interrogate a possible common zeitgeist that is calling these contemporary artists from Africa, to dig up ‘past’ narratives and re-present them in the bold ways that they are.

Papers, digital engagements, and further dialogues open up important discussions around contemporary identity and how it relates to imagined and real histories as they intersect with culture and tradition in dance-making. The “(re)turn to the drum” is set up as both a question and as a tipping point to think about our futures.

Self-exclusion from gambling: can it be avoided?

Published

on

online gambling

There are repeated reports in the international press about problem gamblers who are said to have been able to play in online casinos despite self-exclusion from gambling. A report last week on Sky News deals with the topic. Problem gamblers are often excluded from gambling because they cannot control their gambling behavior.

How Does Self-exclusion From Gambling Work in the UK?

In the UK, problem gamblers who want to stop gambling can register with Gamstop, an industry-funded online self-exclusion program, and be banned from gambling at online casinos for at least six months. This ban cannot be lifted until the ban period has expired and players must contact Gamstop by telephone after the period has expired.

Gambling operators in the UK only receive an online license from the UK Gambling Commission if they agree to participate in the Gamstop self-exclusion system, like at betnuvo casino.

Played in the Online Casino Despite Self-ban by GamStop

Sky News spoke to a problem gambler who is said to have played at online casinos in the UK despite being banned.

According to Sky News, “Luis” (player’s fictitious name) registered for self-exclusion with Gamstop in 2019, but managed to reopen his dormant account with William Hill in 2022. This was not recognized by the Gamstop system, even though he had only changed his address. But his unusual last name remained the same.

After reopening his account, he lost £2,000 on William Hill within a few days.

Self-Exclusion in the UK

Problem gamblers in the UK can exclude themselves from gambling by submitting a blocking request to the GamStop blocking system. The minimum blocking period for self-blocking is three months.

The GamStop blocking system includes the following gambling areas:

  • Online gambling games licensed in The UK (virtual slot games, online casino games and online poker).

However, a problem for problem gamblers based in The UK could be that the GamStop ban only applies to gambling providers licensed in The UK. Online gamblers have the opportunity to register at online casinos that do not have a British license, but where games can be played from The UK.

Nobody Seems to Feel Responsible

Brian Chappell, the founder of the consumer group Justice for Punters, contacted the British Gambling Commission about Luis ‘ case without success.

“Huge improvements are needed in all of their processes to protect people from harm caused by gambling and to prevent something like this from happening again… There is so much to be learned from this case because the current system allows people like Luis to play every day let us down, and that is simply not acceptable.”

– Brian Chappell, Justice for Punters, Sky News

William Hill also claimed that it was not responsible for Luis not being identified as someone who had excluded himself.

Gamblers’ advocates in the UK hope that the new White Paper , the government’s proposed law to overhaul gambling , will introduce tougher rules for the industry to adapt it to the digital age.

However, there is still a risk that problem gamblers could play with illegal non GamStop casinos which do not have a license from the British Gambling Authority.
