TIME’s 100 list was inaugurated about a decade ago and has become one of the most anticipated lists worldwide.Omotola was named in the “Icon” honoree category alongside the First Lady Michelle Obama, Daniel Day Lewis, Kate Middleton, Beyonce, Justin Timberlake, Malala Yousafzai and many others. Omotola let her hair down and celebrated in style with her fellow honorees on April 23rd, 2013 at Time Warner Center, New York .She looked elegantly beautiful in Nigerian fashion designer Iconic Ivanity’s custom designed black gown, accessorized with Nigerian luxury jewelry designer Nehita’s 18 karat white gold black diamond encrusted earrings and a diamond onyx cocktail ring set in 18 karat yellow gold. Omotola was further honored and pleasantly surprised to find her portrait was one of the 20 honorees chosen to be proudly displayed on the wall of fame at the event. The gala was truly memorable and she was delighted to share the moment with her fellow honorees of past and present like Vice President Joe Biden, Jimmy Fallon, Ariana Huffington, Steven Speilberg, Shonda Rhimes, Barbara Walters, Christina Aguilera and many more. In her words; “When I was first informed that TIME Magazine had contacted my team about this great honor, I first thought I was being Punk’d. Quoting the Vice President Mr. Joe Biden “Being on the Time’s list is a testament that you are doing a great job in your various fields and are expected to do even more”. I am definitely inspired to continue the work I’m doing in my artistry, my foundation O.Y.E.P (Omotola Youth Empowerment Program), UN and Amnesty international. This honor will always be indelibly etched in my memory. It is a very exciting time in my career and life and I am grateful to Time Magazine for recognizing my work and giving me another platform to help bring favorable attention to Africa. I share this honor with my husband, children, family, professional team and my wonderful fans all over the world that never ceases to amaze me with their undying support. I am proud to be Nigerian and my hope is for my journey to be a gateway in bridging any gap within Africa and the West artistically and philanthropically”. Juliet Bawuah wins Sports Journalist of the Year at the GJA Awards

TV3’s Juliet Bawuah was adjudged the Sports Journalist of the Year at the recently held Ghana Journalists Association Awards in Accra.

 

Juliet’s story titled ‘Rugby at the Beach: Young players take baby steps in Famous sport’ won her the coveted prize at the event, which is in its 26th year.

 

Set in Teshie and Nungua in Ghana’s capital, Accra, the story highlighted the plight of young Rugby players who go through visible challenges to learn a sport they have grown accustomed to.

 

Juliet’s story explored the lines between danger and passion and daring to dream.

 

The biggest award for Sports journalists in Ghana, the Sports Journalist of the Year adds to a stellar career pool of recognition for Juliet, who is one of the country’s most loved brands.

 

The 26th GJA Awards was held under the theme: ‘Walking the Path Towards Ghana’s Economic Recovery: The Role of the Media’.

 

A number of dignitaries including the US Ambassador to Ghana, Virginia E. Palmer and Justice of the Supreme Court (JSC) Yonny Kulendi were present at the event.

Antoine Mensah set to host 5th edition of ACCES 2022 in Tanzania

Ghana’s seasoned radio personality, Antoine Mensah returns to host this year’s ACCES music conference. The 3-day event set to take place in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania is in its 5th year running. The annual conference brings together musicians, tour agents, managers, labels, distribution agencies, and music industry stakeholders for a series of workshops and sessions. Antoine Mensah returns to host the conference for a third time since the 2019 edition in Ghana.

The Music In Africa Conference For Collaborations, Exchange And Showcases, or simply ACCES, is the leading pan-African platform for music industry players to exchange ideas, discover new talent and accelerate the shaping of a vibrant music sector in Africa.

ACCES is held in a different African city every year, attracting delegates from across the world. The event offers a dynamic programme designed to benefit local participants and visiting delegates who typically represent the whole music value chain. The festival will take place from the 24th to the 26th of November, 2022.

Antoine Mensah who started off his radio career 12 years ago at Choice 102.3 FM has since grown his influence in the music business landscape across Africa. His career has seen him run in Vibe, Live FM and recently Atlantis Radio. As cofounder of music streaming platform aftownmusic, Antoine comes to the table with a wealth of knowledge and experience in the music business, having worked in artist management, festival directing, label administration, business development and marketing.

His role as a new media & event consultant has him hands on major projects with Global Citizen, Ayoba and new pan African TV station, MX24. He currently hosts the Smooth Alternative on Atlantis Radio in addition to his AMPodcast series.
