Roots life Records, iPartner Artiste Management, and Yard and Foreign crew in collaboration with YFM is proud to present nationally known Roots life Reggae musician, Black I in concert on Wednesday, February 29 at La Tawala Beach Resort from 6pm till day break. Singer, songwriter and instrumentalist ‘Black’ I, is eccentric in the local and international Reggae music Scene. Born Nii Anue, May 1982 in Cape Coast, Influenced by Legendary artists like lucky Dube, Bob Marley, Egya Koo and Tony Rebel and powered with the spirit of the most high Jah (God), he begun moving classmates, instructors and eventually the whole community with stirring lyrics and undeniable musical passion. By turns, he picks a banjo to accompany an ancient ballad, sings a song about motherly love, plays a sweet melody on guitar, and then reaches deep for a soulful expression of values in a troubled world. He tops it all with a tune titled the ‘African Skies’, all skillfully blended into a seamless flow. One local fan said “It’s music from the heart that hits you right between the eyes.” Black I relocated to Atlanta, GA USA in 2007 to begin the development of this debut album. The singles “African Skies” and Asante Mama” are examples of the “Roots Life” Musical Genre which a Ghanaian Blend of classical reggae beats with an infusion of traditional African rhythms and the impactful themes of love, unity and empowerment. He has performed in concert with such music stars as Capleton from Jamaica, Tarrus Riley, a Jamaican American reggae singer and has been featured at the top clubs and festivals in Atlanta, USA and its surroundings. ”It’s hard to imagine another artist on the Ghanaian Reggae scene who combines the same concise, lyrical insight with such world-class instrumental prowess.” Black Santino (YFM) ”It’s not just a wealth of musical styles or his smooth and expressive voice that will make Black i such a fine artist. His songs, which range from thoughtful to silly to poetic, show that he knows his way around the English language and American culture just as well as he knows his way around Africa.” Jeff Garrity – Capital Times Atlanta, GA. Concert tickets cost GH¢10 and come with a free copy of Black I’s debut album, ‘African Skies’. Tickets are available at the premises of Tawala]]>
