NGT1 e1355068628170 After scouring the country to find the most talented persons, top-rated talent television show, ‘Nigeria’s Got Talent’, crowned Amarachi Uyanne as the winner of its first season. The primary school student beat out hundreds of acts to win the coveted N10 million grand prize. The 8-year-old petite powerhouse dancer from Benin City, Edo State, displayed incredible talent throughout the show, and danced her way to victory, triumphing over ballet dancers Jess & Ogeh and violinist Godwin Ogechukwu. “It has been an amazing journey so far,” said Rotimi Pedro, Director of Rapid Blue Format, organisers of the hit show. “The turnout this season was beyond what we imagined and we are glad that we were able to bring together Nigeria’s best young talents and transform them into excellent performers in their own right, “he added. The show’s finale was jam-packed with energy and entertainment, featuring performances and special appearances by some of Nigeria’s appearances by some of Nigeria’s biggest entertainers including rapper Skales, the first lady of EME crew, Niyola; and bringing the house down with his performance, the wildly talented young performer, Dammy Krane. Sage, a spoken word performer was also present to grace the occasion with his act. The nail-biting final show began with the 10 finalists nervously waiting to hear who would make it to the top three. Amarachi, Godwin and Jess & Ogeh were announced as the three vying to take home that grand prize. Jess & Ogeh, brought their A-game and gave yet another spectacular ballet performance but Godwin Ogechukwu’s nimble way with his violin provided some stiff competition. Amarchi gave the performance of her life, with her unique blend of cheeky dance moves and enthusiastic energy bringing the crowd to their feet. It was time to announce the winner and Andre Blaze, the host for the season, kept the tension going after opening the golden envelope. It was a moment of pure joy outpouring of emotion for Amarachi when Andre Blaze announced her as the winner of the show and presented the shell-shocked tiny dancer with her big N10 million cheque. “I am shocked because I didn’t see this happening to me. I am grateful to God for giving me the passion and the energy and for also blessing me with a gift that has made me known to the world. I am also deeply grateful to Airtel and Rapid Blue Format because without them, I would not be here!” said a tearful Amarachi. Hosted by Andre Blaze, the judges for the season were radio host Dan Foster, actor Kate Henshaw and entertainment entrepreneur, Yibo Koko. The Airtel-sponsored first season of Nigeria’s Got Talent began to air on 16 September and run until December 2012. The Got Talent franchise worldwide, which is in its sixth year, has produced many notable performers in the last couple of years including Diversity, Bianca Ryan and Britain’s Got Talent’s 2009 1st runner up Susan Boyle, whose debut album became the fastest selling UK debut albumof all time, selling over 3 million copies in the U.S. It is the only talent competition show that is open to any age and any talent with auditions taking the show to numerous cities in search of one-of-a-kind talent.
