She ran her first full marathon at age 46, meet Nana Serwa Wiafe

49-year-old owner of AhoufeDua Textiles, Nana Serwa Wiafe has a drive that is not common for many women her age. She is a second-generation Ghanaian-American who migrated to the United States at the age of 14, where she is now raising her 16-year-old daughter.

She started AhoufeDua Textiles in July 2014 as a way of introducing Ghanaian culture and textiles to the diaspora. She holds an MBA with a Concentration in Project Management and is a Project Manager by profession and a Certified Scrum Master. Nana also is a avid marathon runner who has finished 28 half marathons and 10 full Marathons, and counting.

Nana lives in Austin, TX currently. She started running at age 43 and ran her first half marathon at age 45 .She ran her first full marathon at 46 and her ‘first and last’ Ultra Marathon on March 1, 2020.

The ten full marathons include the 4 of 6 Abbott World Marathon Majors in Berlin, Boston, Chicago, London, New York, and Tokyo). She was privileged enough to be Ghana’s flagbearer for the Parade of Nations during the New York Marathon weekend.

“I was supposed to have claimed my 5th star in Tokyo, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the race was restricted to the elite runners only and canceled for the general, ” comments Nana Serwa.

Nana Serwa Wiafe is on the hunt to become the first Ghanaian to complete the Abbott World Marathon Majors.
