Ghanaian Journalist, Umaru Sanda Amadu, has called out the Ghana Passport Office for refusing to grant Fulani people in the country passports.

The “Cowboy Journalist” who is of the Fulani tribe himself, says denying Fulani people passports is “ethnocentric and backward,” as they are equally citizens of this country.

“Dear officials of Ghana Passport Office, Stop denying Fulani people passports because of their ethnicity. It’s not only ethnocentric and backwards, it’s unlawful. Citizenship is governed by law, not the looks of the applicant,” he tweeted Tuesday, March 28.

According to Sanda, he has received many calls from Fulani people whose Ghana cards have been seized and their passport applications neglected because they are not Ghanaians.

He has since taken to Twitter to express his frustration over the matter, and has asked that Fulani in the country are treated equally as all citizens.

“I have received so many calls from Fulani people saying you have seized their Ghana cards and refused to process their passport applications, telling them Fulani people aren’t Ghanaians. Who taught you that? It is repulsive!” he added.
