In addition to management announcing these amazing content and new channels, an alumnus of The MultiChoice Talent Factory (MTF) shared with guests how impactful the academy had been for him. MTF is a shared-value initiative that provides a platform for the creative industries to develop their talent and engage with one another through their shared passions.

Multichoice Ghana highlighted some of its  achievements in showcasing more Ghanaian content on DStv and GOtv. Notable among them were ROKGH, Trace Jama, and the Ghana Learning TV, which  focused on educating children amidst the global coronavirus pandemic, that has resulted in the government shutting down schools until next year.

Multichoice Ghana announced its first-owned  fully Ghanaian channel, dubbed Akwaaba Magic, during the showcase. The channel is due to start from March 2021, as part of the Pay-TV company’s strategy to promote more hyper-local content.

Multichoice also launched Showmax, its new streaming service in Ghana, which offers the best African and international content, as well as live sports.

Here is more of what to expect from the Pay-TV company.

SuperSport is now grouped into channels specialised in different sports and different football leagues, meaning that each sport like UFC, Tennis, Motorsport, gymnastics, and others, will have dedicated SuperSport channels while there’ll be special channels for different football leagues. In all, there are going to be 19 sports channels on DStv, including two ESPN channels.

Channels like Wild Earth, a documentary channel; Kix, a channel strictly for lovers of action films; and ZooMoo, a new kids channel. Others include tvN, home for K-Pop and Korean dramas dubbed in English; Timeless Drama Channel, a Turkish telenovela station for soap-opera lovers; and TLNovelas, a Mexican Televista channel dubbed in English.

Africa Magic viewers can expect to see new seasons of ‘Date My Family’, ‘Confessions’, ‘Judging Matters’ and ‘Unmarried’ as soon as Big Brother Naija is over. There will also be new shows like ‘Enakhe’, ‘Riona’, and ‘Shoot My Shot’.

MultiChoice is also rearranging their M-Net channels to streamline different genres of movies. Instead of the five M-Net channels, there will now be four channels numbered MNet 1-4 where subscribers can get access to with DStv Premium.
