TV Buzz: The Challenge, season 5 promises to bring on the fun!!!

imageFor many young Ghanaian University graduates it is the opportunity of a lifetime. Three fully sponsored post graduate studies in 3 universities in the UK worth over 100,000 pounds? It doesn’t get any better than this on what has now come to be known, Ghana’s biggest prize on TV, THE CHALLENGE! For us at home however, it’s been nothing more than a bunch of nerds flaunting their high IQs on national television. To put it bluntly, many would rather watch a music or beauty reality TV show. It was received with great joy therefore when show producer, George Quaye of Charterhouse and GHOne announced at the press launch last Tuesday that Challenge 5 had been designed with great entertainment to reach every single viewer. “The production elements have been relooked and the content has been made a lot lighter, more fun, more entertaining and engaging without losing the core mandate of challenging the minds of Ghana’s smart Ghanaian graduates…” George Quaye. Launched sometime in 2008, the challenge is an educational reality TV show which is a British Council Ghana initiative produced in partnership with GH One and title sponsored by telecommunications giants, TIGO. In the last five years the show has sent over 10 Ghanaian University graduates to various universities including the Robert Gordon in Aberdeen Scotland, the University of Westminster in London, Thames Valley University and London Metropolitan University, all in the UK to pursue various post graduate courses. Some, if not all of these graduates are today holding respectable, if not enviable positions with top notch organizations in Ghana and SWest Africa. Indeed speaking at the launch, Eric Frimpong Amponsah and Naa Ayeley Komey both confirmed how the show has impacted positively in their lives and set them up with some respectable international organizations operating in Ghana. Their lives, they added, has never been the same since they auditioned for the Challenge season 4. Eric graduated from the University of Westminster in London, while Naa had a cold, yet interesting and rewarding experience at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen, Scotland. The call is on again for the Challenge Season 5. In this exciting season 3 bright and ambitious Ghanaian University Graduates will be headed to the University of Northampton, the University of Salford in Manchester and of course, the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen Scotland. First Degree holders with an HND Distinction, a second class upper or better first degree are encouraged to text their names now to 1751 on TIGO and all other networks and catch the search team from 10am on Saturday 14th September at the British Council as they take the first step toward a life changing opportunity by kind courtesy of TIGO, IPMC, Beige Capital, Vitamilk, the British Council and GhOne.]]>
