Washington Heights’ Rising Star Stunna Gambino Shares New Video Single “ZAZA”

Published

Returning from his first festival performance of 2021 at Rolling Loud Miami, the 19-year-old rising star from New York City’s Washington Heights, Stunna Gambino has just released his video single for “ZAZA.” LISTEN

The track follows Stunna’s high-profile feature on The Kid LAROI‘s new track and video “Not Sober” alongside Polo G. While addressing the pains, setbacks, and losses that he has endured in the past to reach a promising future, in the video for “ZAZA,” Gambino sits comfortably in a hidden lair with a Lamborghini, fly clothes, and beautiful women. “I’m the neighborhood hero, the big don dada,” he proclaims while reminding himself that “last year I was down on my knees.”

Stunna Gambino has stood out from NYC’s saturated Drill scene by speaking his truth over captivating melodies and flows. “The kids around me used to be talking about growing up to be neighborhood drug dealers,” he recalls of his Uptown upbringing. “I was trying to grow up and get out.” As a prodigy, he earned the name Stunna based on his flashy wardrobe, made possible by a father who worked at Bloomingdales. A love of mafia flicks inspired the “Gambino.” Like a film plot, Stunna was taken under the wing by some older, seasoned guys on his block. With an older brother, he began pursuing music in his adolescence. “We built a booth out of this one wooden closet,” Stunna recalls. From a makeshift home studio to the city’s best recording spaces, the rapper spoke his truth, vented his pain, and laid out his ambitions. Gambino’s evocative voice and melodic flows first took hold of the city in late 2018 with the release of his single “Still the Same”(featuring Leeky Bandz), which saw over 600k+ streams across DSPs. Before turning 18, Stunna continued to apply pressure in 2019, releasing his debut project, Underrated, including the standout single, “Switch Sides” (feat. Jay Cino), before selling out his first show at SOB’s.

It was 2020 that cemented Stunna’s staying power with releases including “Rockstar From The Trenches” (feat. Bizzy Banks), his Toosii assisted remix of “Rivals,” and his latest single, “Demons” last December – which Rihanna plugged in one of her IG stories. A Boogie Wit da Hoodie, Soulja Boy, and Rowdy Rebel have been among other high-profile supporters. Since the cosign, “Demons” has been streamed over 15 million times, becoming Stunna Gambino’s most popular song to date, while “Heartless,” “Rivals,” and “Rockstar From The Trenches” each fast approach 10 million streams. At only 19, Stunna Gambino is turning heads and quickly proving himself a standout among New York’s diverse Hip Hop landscape.

Nigerian Afrobeats Artiste, Ijekimora, shares her latest single “Fire” with her Ghana fanbase. She featured South African Music Icon, Busiswa, on it. An official video was shot for it too along with the official release of the song.

Stream “Fire” featuring Busiswa here on Digital Stores: Azuri.lnk.to/Fire

About Creating The Song “Fire”

“We came up with the title ‘Fire’ because of the way Busiswa came wild and unapologetic on the beat and it was so steamy we had to name it ‘Fire’, and the chorus had that melody in it too; the song already defined itself and you get to feel the energy and power behind it when you’re listening to it.” – Ijekimora

“The concept of the song is just 2 girls taking over, literally, empowering ourselves as 2 fierce women in the music industry living the best of our lives and making money as well,” Ijekimora added. The song is Amapiano inspired.

Why Busiswa for a feature?

Ijekimora was looking forward to breaking into the South African market, thus, needed an artiste she could work with; coincidentally Busiswa came through as the one. Busiswa had a show in Lagos and Ijekimora’s Team connected with her; and everything took off from there. “It wasn’t stressful at all getting her to jump on my song”, she says.

Ijekimora is still experimenting sounds to put together her debut EP she announced as “Kimorality”. She promises her fans to expect the EP to be out some time in 2023 though there were delays. She is a perfectionist and makes sure she gets her things right hence the little delay but off the cuff she has alreay released fire singles “Sexy Papa”, “Temptation” and a previous sensation “Stand By Me” featuring Seyi Vibez.

Ijekimora, grew up in Dallas but hails from Nigeria. She often shuffles between Nigeria and Ghana; she says Ghana is like a second home to her so she frequents Ghana grounds to do her promotions each time she drops a new song.

Busiswa Gqulu, known mononymously as Busiswa or Busi, is a South African singer-songwriter and poet. Born in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, South Africa, she gained public recognition for her feature on DJ Zinhle’s song, “My Name Is”, after being discovered by Kalawa Jazmee’s CEO Oskido. She is a vibrant artiste known across Africa and beyond and has rocked many stages locally and internationally.

Akwaboah Collaborates With Medikal On New Single, 'Picture'

Highlife and Afro fusion sensation Akwaboah in keeping with his promise to release one banger after another from now till ending of 2023 has outdoored a new Single titled ‘Picture’.

The new song features a first time collaboration with the award winning rapper Medikal.

Akwaboah is currently enjoying enormous success as his Black Stars anthem titled ‘Bring back the Love’ continues to be a fan favourite among football and music lovers during this World Cup season.

Picture is a blend of Highlife and Afrobeat notes and Medikal definitely does justice with his catchy punchlines. Fans are already calling Medikal’s performance his best rap feature on a song.

The song alludes to the penchant for pictorially capturing the significant or joyous moments of one’s life and sharing with friends and family mostly via social media. Its catchy tune is certain to make it a viral hit this Christmas and beyond.

Akwaboah has been tight-lipped on an exact date for the release of the Lighthouse Album, choosing simply to say it will definitely be released early next year.

It will be recalled that Akwaboah surprised his fans last year by releasing the Lighthouse EP instead of the Album. According to him, this was because he had a solid 15 tracks which was ready to go but needed to break it into two for his fans and music lovers to properly appreciate every track on both the EP and subsequent album.

If his collaboration with Medikal on Picture is anything to go by, then fans can truly anticipate a great Lighthouse Album ahead.
