Ghanaian music siblings, Sister Derby and Wanlov the Kubulor have teamed up to make face masks from recycled clothing to aid the prevention of the spread of the novel coronavirus.

According to Sister Derby, the masks, which have been named ‘Ano Dross,’ are made out of recycled second-hand clothing, especially T-Shirts that have been imported into the country as ‘Broni w’awu.’

In a documentary which has been posted on Pidjen TV on Instagram, the aim of the project according to Sister Derby would not only help deal with airborne diseases like Covid-19 but also minimise clothing waste at dumpsites and in the sea.

Both Sister Derby and her brother Wanlov the Kubolor are very passionate about the environment and have been campaigning to help protect it.
