Watch: Stacy Amoateng apologizes over cervical cancer and IUD misconstruction
Media personality Stacy Amoateng has apologized and explained her comments about IUDs causing cervical cancer.
The TV host who was on Citi TV as a survivor to raise awareness on cervical cancer revealed how she almost lost her life to cancer.
Parts of that interview were picked up and some blogs wrote stories with headlines like “I Had Cervical Cancer From Using IUD Birth Control – Stacy Amoateng Shares Horrifying Experience”
This caused the Society of Gynaecologists and Obstetricians of Ghana (Ghana Medical Association) to issue a press release addressing the news.
However, Stacy herself has offered an explanation to her comments and apologized.
In the video, she stated that IUDs do not cause cervical cancer and advised women to get screened.
