Webster University Ghana Hosts Screening of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever in Accra

The anticipated Black Panther sequel Wakanda Forever released on November 11, 2022 with much anticipation globally. In Ghana’s capital city Accra, the film release was celebrated with much fan fare. Webster University Ghana, the first Sub-Saharan African campus for the St. Louis, Missouri, USA based university, hosted a private screening of the blockbuster film for its students, faculty, families and extended community.

 

The screening featured a Wakanda themed photo booth, tribal face painting and students who represent 31 nationalities who wore African inspired outfits in honor of the film and in celebration of local design and culture.

“Wakanda Forever is a celebration of African culture and diversity, and Africans accepting their uniqueness of self and culture. This aligns with Webster University’s values of promoting diversity and inclusion within its community on the Webster Ghana Campus. Webster celebrates diversity worldwide with over 175 nationalities and 31 to date at the Webster Ghana Campus located in Accra,” shared Christa Sanders-Bobtoya, the Director of Webster University’s Ghana Campus who has been involved in the field of international education for the last two decades.

The Webster Ghana Campus is the only American university in the sub-region offering US accredited graduate and undergraduate degree programs with a mission of providing high-quality education that transforms students for global citizenship and individual excellence.

“Our students are active learners and are fully engaged in powerful discussions on what the future of Africa might be. Wakanda Forever gives us a vision of the bright future for Africa and the next generation- our global leaders of tomorrow!” added Sanders-Bobtoya.
